Grow Therapy 2023 Offsite: Fostering In-Person Connection and Collaboration

We started Grow Therapy to make quality, affordable mental health care accessible to all. Our success in achieving this mission reflects how we build our team, and support each other as teammates.

Over the past two years, we’ve grown from a few colleagues working out of a spare bedroom to an over 160-person organization collaborating across the country. We’ve worked side by side through breakthroughs and challenges, but as a remote-first company, many of us had yet to meet face-to-face.

This February we finally had the opportunity to host our first offsite in Austin, Texas. Every full-time Grow teammate was invited, regardless of department, position, or seniority. Despite some unseasonably snowy weather and more than a few flight rebookings, we had an incredible time celebrating our milestones, aligning on our future roadmap, and working across departments to find opportunities to advance our shared goal of earning the trust of our provider partners and clients.

Above all, the offsite served as a forum for us to finally connect in person as a team and build up a rapport that will continue far and beyond our trip. We navigated Escape The Room (with mixed success, speaking for myself), inhaled Austin’s amazing local cuisine, and bonded in between scheduled programming over shared interests and passions.

While I personally came into the offsite with a lot of excitement, I had few preconceived notions of what to expect. Having officially wrapped up our first (of many to come), my overwhelming takeaway was appreciation – for the team I work with, the mission that binds us, and our shared commitment to achieving it.

This article is not meant to be a replacement for medical advice. We recommend speaking with a therapist for personalized information about your mental health. If you don’t currently have a therapist, we can connect you with one who can offer support and address any questions or concerns. If you or your child is experiencing a medical emergency, is considering harming themselves or others, or is otherwise in imminent danger, you should dial 9-1-1 and/or go to the nearest emergency room.
