As an individual who struggled with alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety, my life experiences, as well as my education and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of my life, have provided me with the opportunity to serve those who are struggling with life. Everyone has life struggles. I am prepared to help individuals and couples learn how to live life amidst struggles, such as depression, addiction, worry, financial stress, or marriage difficulties. I am blessed and honored to be in a position to use the gifts God has entrusted me with to serve others. My specialty area is addictions. I struggled with alcohol addiction for about 23 years. Through God's redeeming grace and an excellent education, I am well equipped to help those struggling with addiction and the anxiety, depression, worry, and fear that may or may not be attached to the addiction. My life experience with addiction has equipped me with an understanding about addiction. Not just for the individual, but for the affected family/social network as well. My education at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary has also equipped me with God's ultimate resource for our afflictions - The Word of God.

Danielle’s professional career began in education as a teacher, where she dedicated 10 years to shaping young minds. This experience eventually led her to transition into the role of a school counselor, sparking a deep passion and love for working with adolescents. Her time in the school system was instrumental in building her expertise in supporting young people during critical phases of their development. In 2019, Danielle took a leap of faith and founded Healthy Healing Counseling Services, her private practice. This significant milestone came during one of the most challenging periods of her life: navigating a divorce from her high school sweetheart after 17 years of marriage and raising three children. While the experience was devastating, it became a catalyst for Danielle to channel her energy into helping other women facing similar struggles. Her personal journey of resilience and healing deeply informs her work, allowing her to connect with clients on a profound and authentic level. Through Healthy Healing Counseling Services, Danielle combines her educational background, professional expertise, and personal experiences to empower women and adolescent girls dealing with mental health challenges and life transitions. She believes that every individual holds the answers within themselves. Using a holistic approach, Danielle provides her clients with practical tools such as mindfulness, breathwork, and meditation to navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and other challenges. Additionally, she incorporates EMDR therapy for trauma-based healing, ensuring a person-centered and compassionate approach to each client’s unique needs. I am a licensed clinical therapist and Reiki Master Teacher in Michigan with 27 years of professional work experience. I use a unique holistic/spiritual approach, incorporating the mind, body, and soul as they all go hand in hand. Since I was a freshman in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a therapist and help people. I never questioned it and pursued this. After about 21 years, I really started to have an interest in holistic methods, spirituality, and exploring different healing modalities. I had some physical issues due to a bad car accident I was in when I was younger, combined with the stress I was experiencing. This really motivated me to learn alternative healing methods. I also discovered that I am an Empath. So I pursued learning more about this and myself by really expanding on my spiritual journey, and wanted to share my knowledge with others.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Michigan rather than a city like Detroit?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Michigan. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Michigan from Grand Rapids to Warren! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Michigan.

Will my therapist take United Medical Resources?

Yes! If you use United Medical Resources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have United Medical Resources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
