I am Brandee, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience working with teens and adults just trying to do their best to make it through this crazy life! I am huge on making therapy the safest place possible and meeting you where you are. Life is hard enough and it's nice to have someone to meet you without bias, judgement, or expectations.
First sessions can be awkward! I am going to ask tons of questions to get to know you and figure out what it is that brought you to therapy and where you want to take the journey. After all, therapy is all about YOU.
I am very down to earth, real, and make therapy a place where you can be yourself in a space with a real human and not just a person in a sterile environment.
Working with those who have experienced many types of traumas, infertility, anxiety, mood disorders, or those just struggling to find their way through the weeds of life are the people that I strive to help. Sometimes life is just a huge mess and you need someone to talk to.
Thoughts impact feelings and feelings impact our behaviors. Targeting our negative thoughts and creating more positive ones will help us to feel better!
When trauma happens we often get stuck in negative thoughts and patterns, with CPT, we identify those points that are causing those patterns and work to challenge those and work to create a more balanced set of thought patterns.
DBT encompasses a few different tactics for helping to identify our emotions, increasing awareness, managing and tolerating the uncomfortable, and interacting with others in a more positive manner.
EMDR is a modality I have loads of experience in as I have spent many years honing in on using it to help those who have experienced trauma or have negative thoughts about themselves or the world around them. Using EMDR We can challenge those negative cognitions and work to replace them with positive cognitions, and help to desensitize and reprocess the traumas that have been endured.
My first and foremost used modality is person centered therapy. The most important thing to me in therapy is to build a strong therapeutic alliance and relationship to help you feel comfortable, safe, and be in a place without judgement.
