Hi there, I am Jen. Do you want to improve the quality of your life? Do you want to make long-lasting changes that improve areas of your life such as work and relationships? I empower clients to overcome the daily challenges of dealing with such issues as depression (or other mood disorders), anxiety, PTSD/Trauma, and grief. I'm here to help clients (ages 10 & up) get back to a place in their life where they feel more balanced, secure and to a place where they feel happy with their overall quality of life. I do believe in a holistic approach that focuses on the mind-body-spirit connection. I utilize various techniques that include mindfulness, helping you identify and address irrational thoughts, motivational interviewing and more. I work with clients to identify treatment goals at their 1st appointment, if possible and I also like to assign therapeutic "homework" since this helps clients practice and eventually acquire the skills they need to feel better about themselves and their lives. No matter the issue, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy is a brave thing to do and I will provide a safe space to help you heal and grow. In our sessions, I will provide empathy, active listening and humor to help you overcome what is troubling you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I believe that persons seeking counseling for any reason are asking themselves, “Who am I?” Professional counseling helps you return to the authentic self that you were born with before life experiences pulled you away from it. Therefore, I ask you to bring to our sessions the thing that is generating the most energy for you that day; the good, the bad, and the ugly. It may not seem to apply to the reason that you started therapy, but it will. Because everything matters.

Feeling overwhelmed? There are kids, parents, work, spouse, school, and when you think of all the things your head feels like it might explode. When you add in anxiety, depression, frustration from being unable to focus, grief, or any other mental health struggle, it probably adds to the whirlwind you feel like you're stuck in. Maybe you've been told "it could be worse," or to "be grateful," but this didn't make you feel any better. No matter how big or small you think your situation is, your emotions and what you're feeling are valid and important, and worthy of acknowledgment and exploration. It's time to take care of you and seek help, in a safe, empathetic, and judgment-free space. Once you feel heard and validated, we can dive in together to explore where your feelings may come from. I understand it can be hard to reach out for help, but I will meet you where you are emotionally and proceed at your pace. Allow me to join you in your journey.

Hey! I am happy that you are here :) You deserve to be seen and heard, just as you are. Navigating late-stage capitalism can feel overwhelming and lonely. In a capitalist system, profit seems to be all that matter. If your life isn't generating profit it is considered "worthless" in this society. This is why many feel helpless and isolated, searching for meaning and addicted to escapism. Capitalism is dehumanizing. I try to put into perspective how the privileges I hold impact the way that I am able to navigate the world. I am a white, cis-gender female. I am AuDHD, queer and a survivor. I am the eldest daughter of an immigrant. I exist and reside on land stolen from the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. Within the context of relationship, healing can occur. The therapeutic bond we build is where the work begins. I serve as a warm witness as you begin your journey toward the life you want to create. My approach to therapy is transpersonal, humanistic and deep. I view things from both a systems and attachment perspective. I enjoy working with clients who also want to engage in unraveling their relationship to capitalism. I believe it is important to break down the assumption that human suffering is purely a genetic biochemical or neurophysiological process. There are larger systems at play that influence us and the way we feel in the world and in our bodies. It is critical we acknowledge the impact that systems of oppression have on individuals, communities, and society at large. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in clinical settings since 2015. My experience includes direct care work at a residential treatment center for adolescents, interning at a psychiatric hospital for youth and adolescents, a wilderness therapy program and a residential substance abuse treatment program for pregnant and parenting women. I also supported children and families on the Qualla Boundary as a therapist on the Integrated Child Welfare Team. I love working with individuals who are anxious, ADHD/ASD, have experienced trauma, are hyper-aware, interested in understanding themselves better, neurodivergent, high masking, highly sensitive, people pleasers, helping professionals, those who are highly intuitive, symbolic thinkers, ✨magical✨, LGBTQIA2S+ and survivors of intergenerational trauma.

Would you like to create space for work/ life balance? Would it be helpful to learn more about the connection between your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts? Are you ready to talk about coping strategies- both those that work and learn new ones? I work collaboratively with individuals and families to manage stressors, feelings of stress and anxiety, and cope with addictions. I help clients develop coping strategies that may challenge past thoughts and behaviors but lead toward the accomplishment of goals. Sometimes, it is simply reminding ourselves of what worked before and getting back on track and other times, it is about learning something never practiced before.
