Helping Thoughtful People Get Unstuck and Move Forward Hi, I'm Donavon. I’m a counselor with over 20 years of clinical experience and nearly 30 years working in helping professions. Over the years, clients have described me as encouraging, supportive, compassionate, and understanding. One of the things I do especially well is helping people understand how the challenges they face today developed over time. That doesn’t mean spending weeks reliving the past. Instead, we focus on identifying patterns that contribute to anxiety, stress, ADHD-related struggles, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck, and then developing practical strategies that help you move forward. My goal is to help people gain insight, develop better coping strategies, and begin making meaningful progress in their lives. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the direction of your life, therapy can be a place to slow down, gain clarity, and begin moving forward again.
In our first meeting, I want to understand who you are as a person, not just the problem that brought you to therapy. We’ll spend a few minutes getting to know each other, and I’ll also share a little about my background. Counseling works best when there is trust, comfort, and a collaborative working relationship, so building that foundation is important. During the first session we’ll also explore: • what brought you to counseling • what challenges you're currently facing • what changes you would like to see in your life Even if your goals are still forming, that’s completely okay. Therapy is a process, and we will clarify direction together.
My greatest strength is the depth and breadth of my experience working with people. I began working in human services in 1995, long before becoming a counselor. Since then I’ve worked in educational institutions, human services programs, and clinical counseling settings. This background allows me to help clients see patterns clearly, understand their challenges more deeply, and develop practical strategies that support real-life change.
I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with challenges such as: • anxiety and overthinking • stress and burnout • depression or low motivation • ADHD and attention/focus difficulties • relationship challenges • grief and loss • life transitions or major decisions Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who feel stuck despite trying hard to solve problems on their own. If you're feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure about the next step in your life, counseling can help you develop clarity, resilience, and a healthier path forward.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is at the core of my work. Together we examine how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact and develop strategies that help reduce anxiety, stress, and negative patterns. These practical tools can also be helpful for individuals managing ADHD, attention challenges, and executive functioning difficulties.
Psychoeducation
I believe knowledge is empowering. I often help clients better understand how emotional patterns, stress responses, and coping strategies develop so they can make informed changes.
Existential
Many of life’s most difficult moments involve questions about meaning, direction, and purpose. Exploring how we interpret life experiences can help strengthen resilience and personal growth.
Grief Therapy
Grief can come from the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or a major life change. I approach grief work with patience, compassion, and support while helping clients gradually rebuild forward momentum.
Eclectic
No single approach works for everyone. I integrate several therapeutic methods and often incorporate elements of coaching to help clients build insight, practical strategies, and forward movement.
