Hi there. I'm Debra. I'm a Christian Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions specialist. I graduated in 2018 from Adams State University in Colorado. I was licensed in 2019 and began my private practice in 2022. This happens to be my second career. I enjoy working with those struggling to find direction or overcoming barriers to their mental health and wellbeing.
During your first session, we will have a brief introduction. Then we will engage in your assessment. I always like to share with people that if I'm going to be able to help, I need to know your history. We'll discuss what brought you to counseling and begin to build a plan on how to overcome the issues that are causing you distress.
It's my genuineness and authenticity. I bring understanding, compassion, wisdom and knowledge. I will bring compassion, care and competence to every session. I have an innate ability to help client's feel comfortable and safe during their time in my office. I will be supportive and patient while you are working to uncover and make the difficult changes that are necessary to change your life.
I utilize a lot of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), specifically when it comes to treating depression and anxiety, where your thought process can increase or decrease symptoms.
I also utilize Solution Focused therapy. Let's figure out what the problem is and find solutions to eliminate or decrease the problems.
I utilize Christian Counseling with those who are seeking to understand their issues from a Christian perspective.
I utilize CBT-I to help clients learn ways to change their sleep routines.
I utilize compassion focused therapy and teach clients how to be more compassionate with themselves and less critical.
