As each of us goes through life, we will experience difficult transitions. It could be the losses of a loved one or pet to death through disease, accident, or natural causes. Personally, you or a loved one may face cancer or other life-threatening situations. Life’s transitions are challenging. In all cases, you will need support from family, friends, and professionals. My professional experience includes working with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds facing challenging transitions in their lives. I have supported clients confronting these transitions while witnessing them gain greater self-awareness.
I have also witnessed these clients becoming stronger and more confident through the healing process. I also addressed with clients associated conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress, loss of self-esteem, burnout, and just feeling stuck. I offer empathetic and personable individualized therapeutic services utilizing different theoretical orientations.
You will have the opportunity to freely express yourself in a safe and non-judgmental space. To help you achieve your goals and make positive changes in your life, I will also gently challenge you to be receptive to new perspectives on your healing journey. If you are ready to face the wind of your life’s transition, reach out to schedule an appointment.

In my experience as a counselor, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals in various settings. I have worked with children and adults in the community, residential, hospital, and educational settings. In each environment I have witnessed the marvel of human potential firsthand. As a clinician I approach people and the work that I do from the belief that people have the innate ability to grow and heal on their own. My personal life experience and my practice have fostered this belief, recognizing that the process may require or be made more manageable with some assistance or a guide, in the form of counseling.
Through my experiences I have witnessed the benefits of the human components that aid in the healing process of psychological symptoms that create difficulty in moving toward fulfillment and full integration of the human experience in the lives of many. The therapeutic relationship, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard are components that for me represent the core of therapy. These components create an experience in which someone can safely explore themselves, their experiences, the world around them, and identify solutions to ailments and the "true self" that is often altered by the world around us.

I want to make therapy as comfortable as possible. Coming to therapy can be an intimidating process. The last thing people want is some stuffy, uptight professional that makes people feel like they need to censor themselves. I pride myself in being warm, friendly, and relatable. I view therapy as a collaboration between the therapist and client. I will do my best to make your therapy experience positive. My role is to listen, teach, and collaborate with my clients.
I have worked in a variety of settings since embarking on my journey as a mental health clinician including hospice care, domestic violence, community mental health, intensive outpatient, and urgent mental healthcare. My preference is to work with mature adolescents and adults of all ages both in person and virtually.
I believe mental health services should be accessible; therefore, my private pay rate for those making under 40k per year is $80 per session. Otherwise, my regular private pay rate is $100 per individual session and $120 for family. I also accept insurance. I do not provide couples therapy.

I greet every client with the belief that we are born into this world with the capacity for living unique and healthy lives. I began training to be a psychotherapist 15 years ago after having worked in publishing for many years. Becoming a Social Worker and helping others has always been a kind of calling for me, but it took a little while for me to arrive at my goal. I hope that that part of my story helps to prove that it is never too late to change or to pursue goals. I continue to integrate the things that I have learned through formal education and through my own experiences of life so that I am best able to help others who are experiencing distress and difficulties with navigating life.
We all need additional support from time-to-time, especially given the complicated, fast-changing world we live in. My goal as a psychotherapist is to be a source of support and assistance as you develop insight into the difficulties you face and as you begin to develop strategies for change. Through interactive-therapy sessions, I help you to understand and clarify life’s challenges and I support you as you begin to make the changes that are needed to make progress towards your goals. I help my clients to discover and explore a positive path in therapy that they can then continue to follow as they pursue their goals and their lives independently.

Welcome! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Northern Illinois. I've been in practice since 2006. I specialize in treating adult individuals and couples who struggle with Anxiety, Self-Esteem Issues, Difficult Life Transitions, Trauma, and Relationship Distress (including Infidelity, Communication Difficulties, Sex-Life Difficulties, Connection...and many other struggles.)
My graduate training was at Texas Woman's University, where I earned an MS in Family Therapy. I did my concentrated practicum work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I relocated from Texas to Northern Illinois in 2010 with my husband and children. During COVID-19, I took my practice 100% telehealth, which has allowed me to connect with even more people than ever before.

I obtained my M.A. in Gerontological Counseling from Adler University. I have serviced clients from 5 (yrs.) through 90 (yrs.) in academic, clinical, and nursing home settings. I approach therapy within a client-centered climate, using the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), through a solution-focused lens. I help clients identify obstacles and explore solutions, believing that if one wants something to change, one has to be willing to help foster change. The client and I will explore barriers and remove roadblocks that have denied them their joy. I work with my clients to explore their vision of a better life in a quest to make it their reality. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, and I especially find joy in time spent with my grandchildren. I take advantage of the benefits of exercise and its contribution to attaining balance and minimizing stress. One of my favorite pastimes is baseball. I greatly enjoy attending White Sox games. I provide collaborative telehealth counseling services to individuals and couples. Unresolved pain and fear from "doin' life" fuels anger, anxiety, and addictive behaviors that destroy relationships and turn life into a “cardboard dirt sandwich with a side of sawdust.”
I use Narrative Therapy to help people separate themselves (and their friends and family) from the problems that plague their lives, allowing people to externalize their issues rather than hiding them in the depths of their souls.
You are NOT the problem. Other people are NOT the problem. Problems are problems. Your problems do not define you. Your interpretation of your problems, the outcomes of your problems, and your attempts to solve your problems heavily influence your identity, self-esteem, emotional stability, and how you react behaviorally. Behaviors impact relationships which impact our ability to enjoy life.
I also use Existential, Rational-Emotive Behavioral, Client-Centered, and Gestalt Therapy techniques to help you become an expert of YOU while embracing your values, dreams, skills, and desires to live the life that you designed.
Together we identify solutions to problems via alternative stories of your past, present, and future life, widen and balance your view of yourself, provide you with an authentic purpose in life, challenge old and unhealthy beliefs with new and more accurate conceptions, and open your mind to new ways of "doin' life" that reflect a more accurate and healthier story of you.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out! Do you ever have those days when things are especially difficult?? Many of the people that I meet are looking for support with mental health, substance abuse, and managing traumatic events. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I also have extensive experience supporting teenagers who have experienced trauma, which led me to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Currently, I work with adults and youth, and I'm a strong believer in the mental/physical health connection. I am currently a social worker for a small hospice team in my area so am comfortable having uncomfortable conversations.
I believe in strengths-based recovery that looks at all the systems that can impact us. Bits and pieces of different models incorporated together tend to have the most benefit, based on the person's needs. I have seen so many great successes! I enjoy supporting the people I work with and going through their journey with them. I am currently licensed in both IL and TN. When I am not in sessions, you will find me hiking with the doggos, road-tripping in the Jeep, and going into "Mom Mode" with my three kids.
I look forward to connecting with you :)
