(he/him)
I began training to be a psychotherapist 15 years ago after having worked in publishing for many years. Becoming a Social Worker and helping others has always been a kind of calling for me, but it took a little while for me to arrive at my goal. I hope that that part of my story helps to prove that it is never too late to change or to pursue goals. I continue to integrate the things that I have learned through formal education and through my own experiences of life so that I am best able to help others who are experiencing distress and difficulties with navigating life. We all need additional support from time-to-time, especially given the complicated, fast-changing world we live in. My goal as a psychotherapist is to be a source of support and assistance as you develop insight into the difficulties you face and as you begin to develop strategies for change. Through interactive-therapy sessions, I help you to understand and clarify life’s challenges and I support you as you begin to make the changes that are needed to make progress towards your goals. I help my clients to discover and explore a positive path in therapy that they can then continue to follow as they pursue their goals and their lives independently.
Through a gentle back and forth with you, I attain basic information about you and the difficulties that have led you to seek out therapy. I ask questions, with your permission, to start the process of getting to know you.
I practice from a stance of complete acceptance, and I strive to be completely non-judgmental with my clients. Although this a goal that perhaps all therapists should pursue, it can be difficult for some in practice. Through my wide variety of experiences, I have gained a broad perspective on people, and I continue to enjoy meeting with all my clients, and to work with them to pursue more positive, contented lives.
I am comfortable meeting with a wide variety of clients. I enjoy especially meeting with clients who are complicated, and who may have experienced trauma or who have a complicated relational history. I have extensive experience meeting with young adults and with older adults.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
People seem to automatically focus on the negative aspects of their lives, instead of valuing and keeping in mind the good and positive things that exist in their lives. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is meant to help people rebalance their lives and build upon and change their lives based on the good things that already exist.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is especially helpful when used in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Mindfulness-Based Therapy, in part, helps people to develop the skills to become more aware of what is going on in their minds and to have more “control” over their thoughts and what they are attending to and believing

I appreciated the help kind of logging my thoughts and feeling like I’m not the only one with my less fortunate qualities and the reminder that I have some good foundations laid to continue to be okay.
