New clients continue care with this provider
My background is in psychotherapy, health coaching, and wellness instruction! Helping others set health goals, inspire change, and conquer their emotional challenges is a vital part of my focus. I have a graduate degree in both counseling and health and have been providing therapy to both men and women of a variety of ages for many years. I have practiced within an agency and with online platforms. Observing clients build the courage to make changes, walk away from unhelpful patterns and take a new path has been a rewarding part of my career!
During your first session we will gather some basic information including what brought you to therapy. This will give you a chance to tell your story and explain what you are experiencing. We may talk about your history, your support system, if you've been to therapy before, any related medical issues, what goals you have in mind from counseling, and what you can expect if you were to move forward in seeking assistance.
Having thirty three years in the helping and teaching profession, as well as having expertise in both wellness and in therapy--- gives a unique background as a provider. My holistic approach has not only been shaped by my training but also by my client's input. What impacts our mental health can also influence our social and physical health. All dimensions of our health are equally important and intertwined with one another. Therefore the mind, body, and spirit must all be addressed at some point during the healing and coping process.
I work best with clients who are motivated to explore their circumstances and are consistent in their efforts to make progress. I look forward to collaborating with those clients that are trying to figure out why they feel bad or are struggling to resolve an issue, and persons who desire to learn and desire to go in a new direction to achieve a different result in their life.
With CBT, you become an expert of your own behavior. We examine your thoughts, recognize negative thinking, and apply strategies to improve emotions.
Person centered therapy has a foundation of unconditional positive regard and allows the client to better understand themselves. A model of good communication is illustrated by the therapist, allowing the client to be vulnerable and lead the conversation.
SFBT, after gathering a description of the problem, is used when striving to meet a desired goal. We discuss exceptions, identify your strengths, use some coping and scaling questions, and focus on what you can do rather than what you can't.
Supportive psychotherapy is a type of therapy that primarily focuses on providing emotional support, encouragement, and validation during difficult life circumstances or psychological challenges. During our sessions we talk about your feelings, concerns, and problems in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. Guidance provided helps clients figure out to address specific issues. Supportive psychotherapy is mostly focused on helping you work through present and immediate concerns, including relationship issues, family conflicts, or work-related stress.
