My name is Angie Stewart. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and completed my Master's in Social Work degree at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently practicing in the state of California and have worked in the field of mental health and wellness for the past 9 years. Most of my time working in mental health and wellness has been with adults and older teens experiencing mental health disorders/issues. Sometimes reaching out for help or guidance can be overwhelming and nerve-racking, and I want to assure you that I understand and acknowledge the vulnerability it takes to do so. I consider it a privilege to work with you and look forward to learning about you and helping you as best as I can!
Our first session will typically include a series of getting-to-know-you questions, and depending on what you've been through we may dive deeper into certain areas. I try to get a broad picture of what you've been through and what you're currently going through during the first session.
I practice a few different approaches when it comes to therapy which include, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused therapy. The approach taken will depend on your specific areas of focus and personality. We will come to learn these things as we get to know one another better through our therapeutic relationship.
The majority of my work has been with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. The topics I am most versed in related to those disorders are mood regulation, self-esteem issues, attachment problems, and stress management.
I have the most experience working with those who are in their 20s and 30s
