New to Grow
Hi my name is Jazmin. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping people who need guidance coping with stress, trauma, substance abuse, and troubling thoughts. My therapeutic style is working collaboratively with you and empowering you to change your unwanted feelings and behaviors. Let's work together to uncover what is holding you back from being your best self.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My goal as a therapist is to understand YOU. The more I learn from you, the better I can help you achieve your goals. In therapy, I believe that you are the expert and I am there as a tool to help you overcome your struggles.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I come from a family of addiction, abuse and dysfunction. My past history gives me an an advantage to better understand where my clients are coming from. My approach to therapy is not a "one method fits all." I believe everyone is unique and everyone neeeds a different approach. Therefore, I work as an equal to my clients and fins what works best for them.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
The ideal client is someone who is ready for change, someone who is willing to do what it takes to see results.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is very useful in session with clients who have negative, irrational thought patterns. CBT helps clients challenge those negative thoughts by replacing them with healthier, positive and realistic ones. Clients will notice improvement in their emotional and behavioral functioning.
EMDR
I have utilized EMDR in the last 3 years with clients who have traumatic memories. EMDR helps the brain process traumatic memories without re-traumatizing, reducing emotional, physical and mental intensity.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic helps client's understand "why" the client behaves the why they do. This treatment helps understand that current struggles often stem from deep-seated, unconscious patterns and past experiences.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a collaboration, educational part of therapy designed to empower clients by explaining the "why" and "how" of their experiences, symptoms and treatment plan.
Trauma Informed Care
This approach is important when working with clients how have experienced trauma. TIC establishes trust, ensuring emotional/physical safety, providing choice, and empowering clients to understand their trauma responses, normalize symptoms and regain control.
