I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 17 years of clinical experience supporting individuals through a wide range of life challenges. I provide therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, offering culturally responsive care that honors each person's background, values, and lived experience.

I specialize in working with clients who speak only Cantonese or Mandarin, providing culturally sensitive care tailored to their unique needs.

Working collaboratively, I help clients address emotional and mood concerns, strengthen relationships, and navigate major life transitions. Together, we explore patterns that may be holding you back, identify your existing strengths, and develop practical tools for managing challenges with greater confidence. My aim is to provide a warm, supportive space where you feel heard and understood, gain meaningful insight, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

First session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what has brought you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, what you would like to change or work on, and any important experiences that may help me better understand your situation. I will also explain how I approach therapy and answer any questions you may have about the process. Together, we can begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss a treatment approach that fits your needs. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first session—coming as you are is a good place to start.

Strengths

One of my strengths as a therapist is my ability to meet clients where they are and tailor therapy to their individual needs. I bring a culturally sensitive and open-minded perspective, especially when working with Cantonese- and Mandarin-speaking clients, and I recognize that family, culture, and past experiences can strongly influence how we understand ourselves and our relationships. My approach is collaborative and flexible—I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what will be most helpful for the client and where they are in the process of therapy. I also focus on both understanding the underlying issues and developing practical strategies that can help clients manage challenges in their everyday lives. Most importantly, I strive to create a space where clients feel respected, understood, and comfortable being themselves.

Ideal clients

I work best with individuals who are seeking support with mood stability, navigating relationship challenges, or adjusting to major life changes. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next steps, and are ready to explore new ways of coping and growing. I also have extensive experience supporting Cantonese and Mandarin speakers, helping them bridge cultural differences and adapt to new environments. My goal is to create a safe, understanding space where we can work together toward greater clarity, resilience, and fulfillment.

Treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I believe therapy works best when it is tailored to the person sitting in front of me. Rather than using the same approach with everyone, I draw from different therapy methods depending on your concerns, goals, personality, and what feels most helpful to you. In our sessions, we may explore your emotions, thoughts, relationships, and past experiences to better understand what may be contributing to the challenges you are facing today. I also like to keep therapy practical, so we can work on strategies that you can actually use in your everyday life. Throughout the process, we will work together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, build on your strengths, and make changes at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My hope is that you leave therapy not only with greater insight, but also with tools and confidence to handle life’s challenges in a healthier and more meaningful way.

Ka Chi is a wonderful therapist—professional, professional, and deeply attentive. He always listens without interruption, creating a safe space for me to share. What I appreciate most is his sharp insight; even in simple conversations, he can identify the root of the issue and guide me forward. He approaches his work with great care, always taking notes during sessions and following up with helpful resources by email when needed. Five-star recommendation!
