Being a therapist is a lifelong passion for me and is rooted in my dedication to supporting adults, children, families, and communities in building safety, resilience, and hope. My journey has taken me from my home county of Santa Cruz where I advocated and ran groups for youth living in situations including domestic violence from 2011-2013, to working as a shelter counselor in Oakland for youth 13-21 from 2016-2018. I worked in serving famillies with San Francisco Child and Family Services, where I partnered with families navigating reunification with their children while providing psychoeducation and crisis counseling during critical moments from 2018-2022. I have been licensed with my LCSW since May 2025 and focused my prior professional development around harm reduction and culturally focused treatment, aligning with my commitment to social justice and culturally responsive care.

Hi there! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California. I'm originally from Chicago (some say I still have a lingering accent) and currently live in Santa Barbara, California. I'm a UCSB graduate and completed my Master's in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Santa Barbara. I started my professional experience working in mental health treatment in 2014, and from there I was hooked. I have substantial experience working in residential and outpatient treatment centers treating adults struggling with eating disorders, substance use and addiction, trauma and PTSD, mental health and co-occurring disorders, and more. While I have a lot of experience working with a higher acuity of care, I also love helping others navigate relationship issues, life transitions, career and work-related stressors, and other challenges that naturally come with life.

You deserve to feel better. Hi, I’m Michelle, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Mindset Coach with over thirty years of experience helping people reduce stress, ease anxiety, and feel more grounded and confident in themselves. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation, one that helps you make sense of your experiences and understand yourself more deeply: how you think, feel, and respond to life, so you can move forward with greater confidence and clarity. Clients often come to me wanting to manage their emotions better or feel more in control of how they react. Many are wrestling with stress, anxiety, or emotional patterns that leave them feeling disconnected or stuck. Together, we work to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, how the nervous system responds to stress, how patterns were formed, and how emotional intelligence can be strengthened in everyday life. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth. I bring both clinical experience and real-world perspective to our work together, helping you strengthen the relationship with your Self, the part of you that holds awareness, clarity, and inner strength. Together, we focus on learning how to regulate emotions, cultivate a growth mindset, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Everyone has the ability to thrive and reach their full potential, and it is through this process of discovery that makes me passionate about working with my clients. I provide support, empathy, and understanding in every session while we explore life's challenges that often make us feel "stuck." I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery of not only one's own underlying issues, but also of our own unique potential to strive for hope and resiliency. Services in Spanish are also available. Life can be filled with many challenges and often, we just need to look for some space to contain our thoughts. Allow me to work with you in identifying your goals, explore options, and try to overcome obstacles. My goal is to help you recognize the strengths that you inherently hold while helping you feel supported reinforce the idea that you are enough! I currently offer services to adults looking to explore their own interpersonal growth through a secure tele-health platform.

Greetings, Life can be confusing, relationships can be stressful, and the present can make you feel anxious or depressed. Sometimes a painful past can surface into the moment, especially when situations are difficult or when you are experiencing major change. During these periods your mood and thoughts can be affected in negative ways. When you are feeling alone, disconnected, or confused, talking things through can make all the difference. I work with anyone struggling to find joy, peace, and fulfillment. I offer a safe, inviting space for you to share thoughts and feelings, to vent, to feel heard, and to reorient to meaning. Please allow me to assist you finding relief and clarity. I will meet you where you are at and welcome you. I address healing on multiple levels of the body-mind connection with a focus on the notion that caring about something or someone along with experiencing meaning can counterbalance the effects of hurt, a disturbing past, or a present stressful situation or transition. I have more than 20 years of experience helping clients navigate major change and transition, gain closure, and create new beginnings. I apply interventions from a mind-body-being perspective and assess current life stressors to distinguish between situational mood and thought disturbances from those enduring and a consequence of previous hurt or trauma.

Hello and Welcome! Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, holding grudges, carrying guilt, poor boundaries, trauma that control us, or being anxious/angry all of the time. I would like to help you free yourself from emotional pain, deal with life on life's terms, and to experience a satisfying life. I will do my best to provide you a balance of constructive advice, honest feedback, empathy, humor, and warmth. I have a lot of experience working with individuals struggling in relationship. I can help with anxiety, trauma, grief, and much more. I also do relationship work with individuals. I know that sometimes the loneliest place is in a relationship that is not working. While I'm not accepting couples, there is some amazing work that can be done when one partner changes their patterns. I can teach you how to talk so that your loved ones will listen, and teach you how to listen so that your loved ones will feel heard by you. We can break patterns that aren't work, and learn how to be in a balanced and healthy relationship. I welcome diverse cultures and the LGBTQ community.

I bring both professional and personal experience to my work as a therapist. Having a bipolar diagnosis has given me a unique perspective on the challenges of navigating the institutional and often stigmatized aspects of mental health and the impact on day-to-day life. This lived experience allows me to approach therapy with empathy, a genuine curiosity and appreciation for each client’s journey. Professionally, I’ve worked in psychiatric residential treatment, addiction medicine, youth detention and family practice settings. These experiences have strengthened my ability to support clients through a wide range of concerns, from mood and anxiety challenges to relationship and life stressors. I utilize a lot of somatic and sensory-based tools focusing on emotion and nervous system regulation, including brainspotting, sound therapy, aromatherapy, meditation techniques and other mindfulness tools. Alongside these approaches, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to examine and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping strategies. I have extensive experience supporting clients with addictions, complex PTSD and trauma history, ADHD, BPD, bipolar, schizophrenia and other psychiatric conditions, allowing me to meet individuals with both compassion and clinical expertise. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel supported, reconnect with themselves, cultivate resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

My goal as a therapist is to help clients face both the real and perceived challenges in their lives with clarity, support, and renewed strength. I approach each person as a unique human being with their own story, strengths, and struggles, and I see therapy as a collaborative process of moving forward together. At the same time, my style is deeply connection-based, rooted in empathy and authenticity, with room for levity when appropriate. I am a hopeful therapist who believes in the process of growth and in our ability as human beings to continually renew ourselves. I find it a genuine honor to share in a client’s journey, and I approach the work with respect, presence, and care. I am a husband, father, and twin brother (I have and identical twin sister). I am also a reiki master and hypnotherapist. When I am not conducting psychotherapy (talk therapy), I enjoy conducting past life regressions to help people resolve past life trauma. I also use hypnotherapy to heal trauma. Hypnotherapy is not covered by most insurances and may result in cash pay. I enjoy helping people identify their wants and needs so they can then identify their goals and dreams. I believe we all have had experiences that have stifled our self-confidence which then causes us to doubt our ability. I enjoy helping people discover that part of themselves that is hidden as a result. I believe the world is a collective of people. We need to take care of ourselves, each other, and the animals we share this planet with. I DO NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPT COUPLES FOR MARRIAGE COUNSELING.

Hi, I'm Taylere! Finding a therapist and embarking on a journey of healing is brave, I am glad you're here. Starting therapy can feel awkward. You might not know where to begin, feel unsure of what to say, or worry that you’re “doing it wrong.” (For the record, there’s no such thing.) My goal is to create a space that feels warm, safe, and human, where you can show up exactly as you are messy thoughts, big feelings, and all the things. I’ve loved exploring people’s stories and helping them make sense of their experiences ever since I started training in therapy. I’m passionate about understanding how early life experiences shape who we are today, while also offering practical tools to cope and grow. I strive to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and non-judgmental, where you can be curious about yourself, build insight, and feel empowered to make meaningful changes. Outside of work, I love to read fantasy books, take my dog for a walk, and go to concerts.

My integrative approach to therapy combines a variety of techniques to accommodate different individual needs to assist you in making choices that will help you achieve a fuller and happier life in a non judgmental, compassionate, warm, and safe environment where you will be heard and accepted. You may feel lost, empty, anxious, alone, with no place to turn to, but as we work together, I will lead you to explore those wounds and emotions that are creating the pain you feel. Clinging to old patterns and emotions is familiar and safe, but it does not serve us well. However, as we walk together, your life will begin to have the purpose you are seeking and deserve as you let go of old emotions and experiences. Taking the first step to self understanding can be intimidating and it takes courage to embark on a journey for change where you will be in control of your life and to all issues overwhelming you with anxious feelings and overwhelming thoughts. You are not alone, you can do it, and I will support you all the way as we work together!

I specialize in supporting adults affected by ADHD and neurodiversity, whether you are struggling with ADHD yourself or you are a parent wanting to support your child or teen with neurodiversity. Neurodiversity can often include additional symptoms, such as anxiety, OCD, relationship struggles, or self-esteem issues. My approach is warm, practical, and focused on helping you understand how your brain is wired, so you can build on strengths instead of getting stuck in frustration or self-criticism. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and strength-based strategies, I help clients improve emotional regulation, social skills, and executive functioning skills. We work together to reduce overwhelm, manage anxiety, and create realistic systems that support daily life at home or at work. As both a therapist and a parent with personal experience raising a child with ADHD and lower-needs Autism, I understand how challenging and rewarding neurodiversity can be. I offer a compassionate space to explore what’s working, what’s not, and how to move toward positive change. My goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and connected, while building a life that fits your unique brain, not one that fights against it.

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Self Esteem?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Self Esteem, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
