New to Grow
Greetings! My name is Crystal, I am a therapist with a passion for my work. I come from a client-centered approach because I believe you, the Client, as the expert on what is happening. My experience has taught me from this central humanistic standpoint, the relevant and helpful interventions are at arm's reach. I believe in educating my clients and partnering with them through the unique experience of therapy.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session I will fulfill my legal and ethical obligations to you; explaining the limits of confidentiality and obtaining your informed consent. I will also ensure an initial assessment is completed. I will listen as you share with me your reasons for engaging in therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Partnering with clients to explore dysfunctions for ways to re-route thoughts and behaviors, leading to different and better results. Often the early intervention of thought purging, emotional expression can lead to a reduction in daily anxiety. I focus on cortisol movement, as we all lead stressful Iives, which also leads to rapid anxiety reduction.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am the therapist who will ask you to work outside of session. I will challenge you to apply new skills and new insight. I believe that our time together must be supported by people, places, and actions which are aligned with treatment goals. If you are plugging into therapy, you have given me the entry point I need to begin building rapport.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I come from a client-centered approach so I draw in a wider variety of tools and strategies to facilitate goal achievement.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The connection between thoughts and behaviors cannot be denied. In crisis situations, I will focus on problematic behaviors exploring thoughts once the crisis is abated. The skills taught can help slow impulses and lead to more thoughtful decisions.
