Hello! My name is Hunter. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and and I primarily utilize EMDR therapy to help my clients. Life is hard. It can be filled with transitions, challenges, anxieties, grief, depression, a past that just doesn't seem to leave you alone - just to name a few. These things can cause us to live a life that is inauthentic, and make decisions that aren't in alignment with the values and hopes that we have. As a therapist, I see it as my role to come alongside you and be with you as you navigate life's challenges, with the goal of living an authentic, fulfilling life of joy. I see clients all over Ohio and California!

I identify as queer, fat, femme and have a mixture of indigenous and colonizer DNA. I share this first because the way we identify matters. So many reasons and factors stop us from being ourselves around others and often, when we can't fully live who we are, our mental health suffers. If that's you, I'm here to help. We can work through body image issues, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, trauma, conflict management together if you're willing to do the work of honestly engaging in therapy with me. I grew up on the East Coast to immigrant parents from Colombia and lived in SoCal for 15 years and recently moved back home to be near my parents. I have a rescued pitbull that bring me lots of peace and joy and you might see him napping behind me via telehealth sessions. I enjoy hiking, cooking, reading (fiction for fun), and taking care of my indoor plants. I love learning about indigenous wisdom/practices from all over the world, herbalism, tarot, and other healing practices and beliefs that folks use to find meaning and wellness. Last but not least, I really love my job! And I do it because I believe in it and have witnessed so many people shift, grow, break patterns and learn new ones that significantly improve quality of life.

I am a considerate, direct and an active provider who is committed in assisting my clients to achieve their goals. While many people struggling with mental illness have difficulty opening up in treatment, I work to create an open and collaborative relationship to help understand the obstacles and dynamics being faced. I also work with the client to help build their strengths, attributes and qualities to conquer these challenges to accomplish their goals. I have been working in mental health since 2008, initially as a mental health case manager then later as a substance abuse counselor before graduating from University of Phoenix and becoming a therapist in 2014. I primarily worked in an outpatient community mental health clinic with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness and substance abuse along with on-call crisis triage from 2008-20 until moving to a federal detention facility for 8 months working with detainees with moderate to severe mental illness. Since 2018, I have been working on various telehealth platforms including Talkspace, Ginger, Modern Health, Rula (Path) Mental Health, Octave and my own group practice Westwind Counseling. My journey began with a profound desire to empower others through their struggles and transitions. My career has encompassed diverse settings including day centers for adults with severe mental illness, crisis shelters for youth, and community mental health services. For the past year, I have been privileged to work directly with clients in private practice. At the heart of my practice is meeting clients where they are, fostering a collaborative and non-judgmental environment. If you are feeling stuck, and unable to make changes in your life, you're not alone. Whether it's in your professional life, your personal life, or both, feeling unsuccessful at doing life may affect your mood, your outlook, and your health. Repeated frustration and disappointment can lead to depression, anxiety, problems sleeping, etc. For 20 years, I have worked with people to help them unlearn negative behaviors and thinking patterns, replacing them with new habits and ideas that support the changes they want to make. Through experiencing success, most people find a new sense of accomplishment that improves their mood, enabling them to take better care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, Deciding to enter into therapy is an important decision. I believe that it can be a major turning point in your life, and by working through a modality that considers your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, you are very likely to achieve the quality of life that you are seeking.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

I believe in genuine, authentic interaction with my clients using humor and warmth. I believe using an informed approach with proven interventions are the 'keys to the kingdom' and allow the client to 'unlock' their own way forward. I believe each client has an inner wisdom that - once discovered - will lead them onto their own path, towards their most genuine, core sense of self, and healing. It is important to be able to identify and describe your goals, and remove whatever is blocking you from reaching them. My concentration was neural-plasticity (the way the brain is trained and untrained), I have extensive experience in addiction medicine (this includes disordered eating as well as other addictions), and multi-cultural experience as well as LGBTQ. I am also a member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, accredited supervisor candidate, Adjunct Professor of Psychology.

Hello, and thank you for checking out my profile page. I applaud you for deciding to enter therapy. It has never been a better time than now. I know that you have a lot of options and choices in selecting a provider, and I am grateful to be one who you are considering to work with. When you make the decision to find someone to talk with, it is so important that you find the right person that feels best for you. I believe in making this process work for you. Should you decide to work with me, I operate from the premise that we are working together, and that you know yourself best and what will work for you. My goal is to provide a supportive and compassionate environment where you can feel safe in addressing items that are personal to you, from the more general ideas to the personal feelings that can make us feel vulnerable. I work with individuals and couples around issues related to relationships, anxiety and depression, as well as self esteem and self worth. Together we will work from a whole person approach to address items and issues related to mind, body, and spirit with a goal to help you feel your best self. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the faulty belief patterns and habits holding you back.

As a child I was always very sensitive and curious about the world that surrounded me. It came natural to help people and I knew that I wanted to give back to the world at large. Just like you I suffered from some childhood wounds. My parents did the best they could with the tools they had. But due to their struggles I became a very codependent child wanting to save and fix my parents to simply gain the love I desired. Later on I would be able to understand this cycle and name some of the patterns I lived out. People pleasing, losing myself in toxic relationships and not fully loving that little girl inside of me. Once I became a LMFT and gained the knowledge and tools necessary I was not only able to break my own patterns, I was also able to help others find joy and deep meaning in their lives. Ultimately I specialize in helping people understand their patterns and be more effective communicators in their world. My role has been a guide and coach for my clients, providing innovative approaches based on Gestalt Method, Ancient Forgiveness Techniques, Psychodynamic Therapy, NLP and Hypnosis. I use these techniques to help my clients break patterns, many of which are fear based as a result of early childhood trauma that causes emotional issues in the present. This is deep and powerful work, and is necessary to enable a positive path to desired future. I look forward to working with you and guiding you on the path to healing and freedom.

Hello, I remember a joke from sometime ago that goes something like this: "Three friends were walking together one day, and one remarked, 'It's windy,' Another responded, 'No. It's Thursday.' Still the other answered, 'I'm thirsty, too. Let's have a cup of tea.'" Is it that way for you sometime? Finding that you are not really being heard and understood? I get it! I work with clients to help them find their strengths and abilities that assist them in better communicating their needs to themselves and to others which can lead to better outcomes in overall functioning in their lives. If that sounds like your experience, we can talk about it together.

Have you ever asked yourself, "why don't I feel good about myself and my choices in life?" I want to help you explore those feelings and get to the root cause so we can reveal the parts of you that feel alive and whole again. Do you remember the hopes and dreams you had as a child? What happened to those dreams? It could be life events or circumstances, some that were out of your control and some that you made consciously or unconsciously. If you have experienced trauma, sexual trauma, this can contribute to your mental, physical, and emotional struggles. Sexual trauma is not easy to discuss, as it is a taboo topic, and you may not find you can share your story with your friends and family. Secrecy is part of the toxic shame that often leads to issues with self-esteem, relationships, intimacy, and other behavioral problems. Every person has the answers within themselves to reveal the shiny pearl in the bed of a sandy oyster. I can help you if you are ready to do the work of personal growth and healing.

Hello! I am Dr. Efrain Zepeda. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Social Worker. In the past 23 years of working as a mental health professional, one important lesson I have learned is that the most powerful therapeutic intervention is found in the interpersonal experience that occurs in the client-therapist relationship. Together we can analyze the past to co-create a new meaning to achieve healing. I strongly believe that therapy is not about labeling or judging, but rather about personal discovery.
