LCSW, 1 years of experience
My name is Laurissa Miller. I am an LCSW that lives in Ventura County, California. I have 13 years of experience with kids, trauma, PTSD, and foster care. I have also worked with children with Autism and ADHD. My goal is always to meet my clients where they are at and work as a team to help them accomplish their goals. I look forward to working with you.
In our first session we will chat about expectations and goals. We will chat about the limitations of therapy. I will get to know you and what you're looking to accomplish. Why you came. With all of that I will make a plan moving forward with you.
My biggest strengths are pointing out your positives. talking you through situations. Making goals together that work for you. I look at each person as an individual and know not everything that works with one is going to work with another.
Children who have experienced Trauma. Women or men that just want to better themselves or talk through issues.
I have extensive experience using CBT with clients across a range of ages and presenting concerns including anxiety, trauma, depression, and stress-related difficulties. CBT's structure has allowed me to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and make meaningful behavioral changes.
When appropriate, I have experience integrating faith-based principles with clinical counseling practices for clients who desire a Christian approach. This integration allows clients to explore emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns in a way that honors their values and belief system.
I have experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing with clients who are navigating ambivalence, resistance, or uncertainty about making changes in their lives. It is effective with clients working through issues such as trauma, health behaviors, substance use, and readiness for broader lifestyle changes.
I have experience using strength-based approach with clients to help them recognize and build upon their existing abilities, resilience, and resources. This perspective has been particularly effective in empowering individuals who may feel defined by their challenges, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life transitions.
I have experience providing supportive therapy to clients facing stress, grief, trauma, and life transitions. This approach is particularly effective for individuals who benefit from a safe, consistent, and affirming therapeutic space to process emotions and strengthen coping strategies.

My daughter and I did her first therapy session for today. My daughter has disabilities and Laurissa understand everything we were saying and was very kind. We had an instant connection with her and my daughter is excited to continue therapy with her. She is super nice and understanding! She listens well!

Laurissa was easy to talk too for my first therapy session. I enjoyed the conversation. Laurissa listened and dialogue felt as we were friends for while instead of Q&A’s.
