Cheryl Babb
Hello, my name is Cheryl Babb and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I help women who are ready to stop shrinking, shape-shifting, and second-guessing themselves. My clients often feel overwhelmed, self-abandoning, disconnected, or are in transition.
Therapy is about relationships - and about helping you to uncover your internal processes and patterns to understand how you relate to yourself and others.
Change is hard. Asking for help can be hard too. But staying disconnected from yourself, trapped in old patterns, or carrying the weight of everyone else while losing sight of your own needs? That can be exhausting. This is not your motherâs therapy. I believe therapy is part science, part relationship, and part sacred excavation. Healing is not about becoming someone new or finally getting yourself âtogether.â It is about coming home to yourself and uncovering the parts of you that may have been buried beneath survival, self-doubt, old stories, or expectations that were never truly yours. Therapy is about helping you to uncover your internal processes and patterns to understand how you relate to yourself and others. My goal as a therapist is for you to feel seen, heard, and understood and to collaborate with you to meet your goals. My style is warm, collaborative and real, with a healthy dose of directness, humor and yes, sometimes swearing. You can expect honesty, compassion and genuine human connection. I will hold space for your pain while also gently challenging the narratives, roles and protective strategies that may no longer serve you so that you can discover new ways of showing up in your life as the one and only you. Clarity. Passion. Purpose. And maybe a little soul retrieval along the way.
First session
Our first session is a conversation. I want to understand your story, what hurts, what has helped, and what you hope might be possible for your life. Mostly, I listen. We decide together whether the fit feels right and where we might go from there. At the end of the first session, we will decide if we are a good fit and if you would like to move forward with additional sessions.
Strengths
I was an archaeologist before beginning my career as a therapist. While some people may think the two fields aren't related, the skills I learned as an archaeologist transferred nicely to therapy. An archaeologist pieces together a comprehensive picture of the past by examining and analyzing tangible snippets from that past. As a therapist, I explore your memories, perceptions and presence to generate a picture of your true self. From there, we focus on what is keeping you from living a meaningful life fueled by clarity, passion, and purpose. Many clients begin noticing increased self-awareness, clearer insight into long-standing patterns, and more compassion for themselves from the start.
Ideal clients
Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. My approach is eclectic and grounded in both clinical training and lived wisdom. I have advanced training in EMDR, DBT, mindfulness and other evidence-based approaches while also exploring Jungian thought, shadow work, breathwork, art therapy and holistic healing practices. I am interested in the spaces where psychology and meaning intersect and where healing becomes more than symptom reduction. Sometimes that includes conversations about intuition, identity, purpose, grief, spirituality, archetypes, energy, or the stories we inherit and carry in our bodies and relationships. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD and neurodivergence, life transitions, self-esteem struggles, relationship challenges, and trauma. I have particular passion for supporting women navigating overwhelm, identity shifts, self-abandonment, and the complicated seasons of reproductive and maternal mental health, including perinatal trauma, PMADs, and TFMR.I have advanced training to support individuals struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Adult ADHD / Neurodiversity, Women's Empowerment, Perinatal Mental Health, Life Transitions, Self-Esteem and helping you become your best, authentic self - whatever that looks like! I work best with people who are ready for depth and curiosity rather than quick fixes or surface-level solutions. Many of my clients are women navigating anxiety, overwhelm, trauma, self-abandonment, identity shifts, relationship struggles, perinatal experiences, life transitions or the quiet ache of feeling disconnected from themselves. I may not be the right therapist if you are looking for a highly conventional, purely clinical experience or if you want someone to lead the process while staying safely on the surface. Therapy with me is collaborative and engaged. It asks for curiosity, courage and a willingness to explore beneath the obvious. Because healing is rarely about fixing yourself. More often, it is about remembering who you were before the world told you who you had to be.
