Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in California. I obtained my master's degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I've been practicing for more than 20 years. I have a lot of experience working with adults with anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. My clients are very motivated to improve and need support and understanding to get to where they want to be and to live a fuller life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, there will be some brief introductions prior to gathering your family and mental health history. We can work together to develop goals and objectives for your treatment so that you can leave the first session with a clear vision of the direction that we are going together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a licensed clinician for the last 20 plus years, I have a lot of experience providing cognitive behavioral treatment that can really help people to understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also utilize a lot of Dialectical Behavioral therapy techniques that helps individuals learn how to regulate their mood and teach skills and techniques to improve relationships and how to maneuver through stressful situations in life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help you identify any negative or anxious self-talk that might be contributing to your depression and anxiety. We work together to identify any cognitive distortions and challenge these to improve any symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is an off shoot of CBT. The dialectical piece is that two pieces of contradicting information can be true at the same time. For example, you can have the urge to act on something, and still choose not to do it. DBT addresses mindfulness skills, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This therapy can be utilized in a variety of ways to help with regulating emotions, calming the anxious brain, or learning skills to get along with others. These are just a few examples of how dynamic DBT can be.
