i am a seasoned therapist in practice for over 40 years. I enjoy working with individuals and families of all cultural/ethnic backgrounds. The issues of anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, depression, anger and stress management are common to most people as they journey through life's transitions. I am an optimist, because I have seen the therapeutic process help many individuals and families overcome very serious challenges, achieve emotional stability, and lead very productive lives.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session I like to identify the person's concerns, goals, coping patterns, and prior efforts to get assistance. Also to identify significant others, and support systems available to support them during therapy process. Establish a regular schedule for therapy sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my 40 years as a parent, educator, founder and CEO of a community based organization for 18 years that provided food, clothing, shelter, scholarships, health education, mental health counseling, education and consulting for individuals, families and communites through out my local community and the San Francisco, CA Bay Area has shaped a holistic perspective about the commom challenges people face which informs my therapeutic work with clients. I have developed an eclectic approach to therapy that allows me to individualize treatment plans that are best suited for the client's needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My passion is to serve people who have dreams and goals of becoming their best selves but unexpected life circumstances seemed to have blocked their progress. I am best positioned to work with people who are willing to engage in counseling and work in partnership with the therapeutic process to resolved the issues that are causing their problems.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using this cognitive behavioral therapy successfully for the past 10 years. Clients respond very well to this person-centered, compassionate approach as they gain insight and learn effective skills to resolve their problems.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My practice has always included people from a variety of cultural/ethnic backgrounds. Learning and incorporating the coping mechanisms and problem solving approaches of their cultures when appropriate, has helped develop more effective treatment plans and better outcomes for the client.

Faith based therapy

Many of my clients have healthy faith based belief systems and practices that when appropriate, have been incorporated into the therapeutic process and helped the client heal and maintain emotional stability when therapy ends.

Couples Counseling

My practice focuses on strenghtening couple's relationships, parenting education, and development of family and community support systems. I have found when these factors are in balance dysfunction is prevented and families and childen thrive.

Grief Therapy

Loss of loved ones or relationships cause similar grief reactions which can be debilitating. My practice focuses on identifying the impact the loss has on the ciient/or family system and helping them to develop coping skills to restore emotional stability.
