New to Grow
My experience as a therapist is wide-ranging: I have worked in adult rehab, child development, college counseling, women's trauma recovery, and individual online and in-person work with teens, adults, and seniors. I currently work exclusively with adults and seniors in an online setting. I found my way to therapy living and working across three continents, through careers in the theatre, and in teaching at all levels up to post-graduate professional development. My clinical and life experiences have helped teach me the value of community, and a strong and dynamic sense of self-worth.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together we will start to establish the rapport that is essential to effective therapy. After explaining the legal details of therapist/client confidentiality, which is key to helping clients feel safe in their therapeutic work, I will learn about you and your needs and hopes as I start the process of assessing your needs and getting to know you on a deep level.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I focus on 3 areas of practice: Strengths, Skills and Solutions; and I offer the benefits of an engaged and non-judgmental listener and problem-solver. My therapy experience and skill-set allow me to offer ways forward when the client feels there may be no way forward. Hope, and the translation of hope into lasting positive change, underlies all of my work. My experience of working successfully with hundreds of clients who feared their lives were out of control and who were able to achieve better lives, makes me very confident and optimistic about the resiliency of the human spirit! My clinical and life experiences have helped teach me the value of community, resiliency, and a strong and dynamic sense of self-worth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My practice thrives on variety and diversity: I seek clients whose lives need change for the better, and who are ready to activate a new member of their personal support system, regardless of their personal circumstances and the specific problems they face.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is my most commonly used form of therapy: ACT gives us powerful practical tools to change the way we view ourselves, and to become able to live our lives with purpose and clarity.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of therapy I use extensively to identify the faulty thoughts that drive our feelings and behaviors, and to change them in lasting ways.
