Hello, I’m Ciarys, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and Texas. As a therapist, I believe that a kind and supportive, client-focused approach is crucial in helping navigate the many challenges that life can bring. I create a warm, nonjudgmental, safe, and supportive space where we can explore and address the various thoughts, emotions, experiences, etc. that can make everyday life tough. Life can be full of challenges, and sometimes, seeking professional support can be a game-changer. I’m proud to be able to meet my clients where they are at, as we explore what therapy has to offer. NOTE: At this time I am not able to provide evening or weekend appointments. My current scheduled openings are M-TH 10 am - 5 pm (Pacific Time). I grew up in Los Angeles, California and am currently residing in Austin, TX. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology with a Minor in Chicano/a Studies at the University of California Los Angeles in 2012 and my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the University of Southern California in 2018. As a Latina woman, I have had the privilege of serving the Spanish-speaking community in addition to serving English-speakers of all different races and backgrounds. Specifically, I have experience providing counseling services to adolescents, adults and seniors. In 2023 I opened my private practice, Alta Therapy Center, with the hopes of making mental health more accessible.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we start by discussing the specific challenges that have brought you to therapy. We also discuss your goals for therapy. In addition, we take some time to review the informed consent document and practice policies. My primary goal as a clinician is to help you manage and learn how to overcome symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, and issues that arise from life transitions. You can expect to be able to build upon your strengths and skills, learn meaningful coping strategies, and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns all while feeling a sense of empowerment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Some of my biggest strengths include listening without judgment while also being patient and supportive. I see the best in people and I’m open-minded. I’m great at collaborating with my clients and bringing gentle awareness to difficult situations using a client-focused approach in every session.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with individuals who are starting their journey in therapy. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about their next steps.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Using CBT in our sessions helps us to recognize how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. By learning to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns that create challenges for us, we can then reevaluate their helpfulness. Together, we challenge and replace unhelpful thinking patterns with new empowering thought patterns.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

With a person-centered approach we make sure to prioritize your needs, preferences, and goals to ensure that you are actively involved in your treatment and well-being.

Supportive

Using a supportive approach ensures that you feel encouraged and validated when experiencing difficult life circumstances. We make sure to strengthen your coping skills to better help you manage your symptoms.
