I am currently licensed in North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, and California, and make my home in beautiful Southern Oregon. PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE A FULL-TIME PRACTICE OUTSIDE OF GROW AND IF YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT CHOICE IS MADE FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY OR 2-3 DAYS AWAY, I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO MOVE IT OUT SEVERAL DAYS. IF YOUR NEED IS MORE EMERGENT, THEN PLEASE ACCESS CARE LOCALLY OR YOU MAY FIND ANOTHER THERAPIST ON GROW THERAPY THAT IS AVAILABLE SOONER. I TRY TO BALANCE HELPING AS MANY AS I CAN WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE CARE. THANK YOU, SAM

Hello, I'm Dr. Karp. I'm glad to communicate with you. Seeking therapy can feel scary, of course, but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal, grow and get stronger. Therapy is all about you, helping you become the person you want to be, happier, more joyful, more satisfied, and/or more able to love and feel loved. To help you get there, you must find a therapist who will listen to your unique concerns, even as they change, clarify, and grow throughout the therapy. Everyone is different, even if they have similar symptoms. I trained a lot of beginning therapists, so let me tell you what therapy should not be. Therapy should not be done robotically. I hear that happening a lot these days from people referred to me. It should not be the therapist just sitting there letting you talk, nor should it be the same as chatting with a buddy. Therapists need to work to earn our money just like everyone else. Therapists should agree with you on your treatment goals, and then apply proven techniques to help you reach those goals as quickly as possible, but also flexibly adjust the techniques to meet the needs of each unique individual client. I will do those things. Finally, therapy should not be the therapist talking mostly about himself or herself, meeting his or her own needs in the therapy. I've heard about that happening far too often as well.

Are you looking for nonjudgmental listening, do you struggle with anxiety and worry over daily living, do you need support in a phase of life struggle? Through an initial assessment we will work together on developing your goals to support growth to better living. You will receive compassionate listening that provides a nonjudgmental space to work through challenges that you may be going through. I specialize in children, youth, and families dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and mood disorders. I have been providing therapeutic services to youth and families since 2009 when I started working in the school system providing therapy to students through their IEP. Currently, I have been in private practice since 2018 providing therapy to adults and youth utilizing Solution Focused, CBT, and DBT therapy styles in my practice supporting patients with mood disorders, depression, anxiety and life transitions. In my teletherapy practice, I have moved away from working with patients under 12 as I find that in-person therapy is more effective for younger children. I received my Master's Degree from California State Long Beach and earned my licensure hours through the Los Angeles Unified School District. My hope for patients is for them to be able to learn skills that will help them move forward from current challenges on their own.

I bring over 25 years of experience in mental health ranging from addiction to trauma. I believe in a strength-based approach in providing clients support because everyone has skills, talents, and abilities to tap into to assist them in overcoming life’s challenges. I am a firm believer in a non-judgmental approach to therapy so you the client feel safe, accepted, and, empowered. I use a broad array of therapy techniques such as trauma-informed care, strength-based, systems, solution-focused or brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, grief therapy, and much more. I am a huge proponent of empowerment and people taking control of their lives with healthy and safe boundaries. I especially enjoy working with men who have engaged in domestic violence with their partners and to help them take responsibility for their actions and the harm they have caused, and to help end the cycle of violence. “Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.” ― Shannon L. Alder

Hi, my name is Michael and I've had the privilege to work as an LCSW Psychotherapist for over 15 years. Throughout our lives, we face a barrage of challenges and sometimes they can compound, especially when they connect to how we were raised. These times can make us feel like we're pulled in too many directions, or like we're "stuck in a hole". If you're here now and exploring a way to seek answers/solutions, I want to congratulate you for taking the first and hardest step forward. I've worked with a broad spectrum of clients to aid in managing their current distress in the present while attending to resolving the past. Together, we can identify how to improve on what's not working to get you back to your ideal balance. We'll use a "whole-person" approach, addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit learning cognitive and behavioral strategies to achieve your path to your identified best trajectory. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship issues I'm here to help! Seeking therapy can feel scary but it's essentially a conversation with you in the driver's seat. Sessions are a safe (non-judgmental and confidential) space to share, learn, grow, and heal. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Whether it's with myself or another provider, I hope you complete the step towards reclaiming the peace and happiness you deserve.

Hello. I am a licensed social worker in California. I began practicing in the mental health/behavioral health field in 2011. I originally was licensed in Maryland in 2015 but then returned to California in 2016. Since starting in the field, I have worked with individuals ranging in age from 4 years old to 75 years old; most experience working with individuals between the ages of 10 and 35. I have experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, depression, anxiety, parenting problems, and relationship issues. I am an ally of the LGBTQI community and can provide a safe, telehealth space for them. Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot accommodate individuals seeking letters for emotional support animals or those mandated by the court or legal system for therapy. With that said, my goal in being a counselor, is to assist my clients in meeting their identified treatment needs. I am flexible and willing to do whatever I need to do to assist you and help you in any way that I can. If when viewing my profile, you feel as though I am a good fit, but my schedule does not meet your scheduling needs, please feel free to send me a message as I may be able to fit you in at a different time.
