My practice is built on the belief that everyone possesses the capacity for meaningful change. I view therapy as a truly collaborative, reciprocal, and flexible alliance. My goal is to provide a steady, supportive space. Having navigated multiple career journeys, I experienced the challenges and rewards of professionally starting over. I help clients re-author their personal narratives to find lasting growth and purpose. I am grateful to be part of a healing profession that promotes self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The focus is always on building a safe, empathic environment. I explain confidentiality and work to understand each client's immediate needs and long-range goals. I listen with empathy and without judgment. I adjust the pace of the first session to fit the needs of each individual or couple. I strive to help each client leave the first hour with a clear sense of how we will move forward together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Early in my professional life I created stories and characters as a screenwriter. My transition from screenwriter to therapist is a distinct path that allows me to view client narratives through a unique lens of character, story and evolution. In the therapeutic alliance we discuss reframing personal narratives in a way which is both rewarding and exciting. I combine reflective conversation with practical cognitive and behavioral tools, working within a steady, supportive space. I help shape my clients' stories.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with those looking for a respectful, grounded partnership, one in which behavior patterns are identified and progress is regularly tracked, with clients who understand the work that is necessary to achieve their goals within an obtainable time frame that makes sense. Flexibility within the process ensures that therapy remains useful and relevant. I am particularly effective for those who feel they have lost the thread of their own story and are ready to start a new chapter.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

My experience with humanistic therapy has shown that by valuing the client, and showing genuine positive regard, a positive therapeutic relationship can be built. This relationship nurtures the client's self knowledge, confidence in their own choices and emotional development so they can attain their goals or wishes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I combine humanistic principles with practical cognitive and behavioral tools to help the client build confidence and move toward the person they want to be. I have found that skill training can provide a way for people who are experiencing distressing emotions to replace these behaviors with positive actions.
