I am a psychologist and offer services via telehealth for individuals. Problems come from a network of experiences. In our work together, we will investigate these problems: where they come from, how they are supported, what they may be telling you, how you learned from these problems, ways they can be negotiated, and times when they are not present. Nothing is wrong with you. You are simply dealing with problems the best way you know how. As we explore the problems, you will find fresh perspectives and build alternative ways of responding that enable you to build better relationships and handle problems with increased flexibility. I am an interactive therapist working with you to develop and experience more confidence, focus, and motivation to meet life’s changing demands. I help people who are doing ok on the outside figure out, and understand, why they might feel so overwhelmed on the inside. You can gain insight and clarity and increase your ability to navigate life transitions, anxiety, fear, depression, and/or traumatic experiences that have impacted your quality of life.

Hi, I'm Michele. I hope to meet you. It can be overwhelming to find a therapist who is a good fit - made harder when you may already be overwhelmed by the very reason you are seeking therapy in the first place! I know, I’ve been on the other side myself as a client. As a clinician, I partner with you to learn what your goals are for therapy. It’s very important to me that you feel seen, heard and understood; this trusting relationship is the foundation of therapy. I came to this work during mid-life, after years in the private sector in consulting and software high-tech, which gives me a unique perspective. My own experiences with mid-life and navigating life's challenges, and losses have inspired my focus to support adults through difficult times; these dark times are often when we have the opportunity to grow and evolve if we pay attention! I bring a strength-based framework to my practice, encouraging us to get curious about what's working, what's right with you. While we work together to build self-awareness and gain insights, the hard work of therapy is often outside the therapy session: making adjustments, building coping skills, setting boundaries, focusing on what's in our control, practicing new habits/behaviors, so we can stay engaged in life. Talk therapy will only take you so far, and often it is the supportive space that is needed during a challenging phase of life. I find most clients need more - relief - and that comes from you, as the client, being willing to roll up your sleeves and try things that might be out of your comfort zone; in that way, I see myself as your Coach, to encourage you and follow up on the work.

My life as a therapist has evolved as an imperfect human through life's complicated choices, twists and turns and different career opportunities. All are additive, expanding my experience, understanding and acceptance of possibilities - meaning I have more to share with you. My past clinical focus has been in: anxiety, PTSD, trauma, depression, substance abuse, hospice, palliative care, chronic and severe mental illness, and LIFE. Life is a long series of transitions, and we can absolutely be our own best navigators.

You’ve probably done a lot to keep things going—managing work, relationships, family, and everything else life throws at you. On the outside, it might look like you’re holding it all together. But inside, it feels like something’s not quite right. Maybe you’re anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or just disconnected from yourself. You may not have the words for it yet—but you know something needs to change. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I specialize in working with adults who are high-functioning on the surface but silently struggling underneath. My clients are often caretakers, overthinkers, and perfectionists who carry a lot of shame, self-doubt, or old wounds they’ve never been given the space to process. Many of them don’t realize how much pain they’ve been holding for years—until they finally slow down and begin to feel it. In our work together, we won’t just talk about what’s going on—we’ll explore what’s underneath it. I use EMDR, parts work, and trauma-informed care to help you untangle the beliefs, patterns, and protective strategies that are keeping you stuck. Therapy with me is honest, grounding, and deeply compassionate. I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll go at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. This is a space where you don’t have to be the strong one. You don’t have to make sense of it all before you show up. You just have to be willing to start. I’d be honored to walk with you through the healing process.

I was born in Amsterdam but moved to California. I am the mother of one child. I was born into a dysfunctional family and overcame trauma. I like to help you heal your painful past as well. Talk therapy can only take you so far because it does not process your emotions. I can help you integrate the cognitive part of the brain with the emotional part. This integration is a fast-lane approach to healing very fast. My therapy adds a deeper dimension to regular talk therapy as I incorporate EMDR, EFT, NLP, Gestalt, Internal Family Systems, and hypnotherapy. Try a new approach; it is beneficial.

Is it difficult for you to find time for yourself, let alone, be kind to yourself? Do you feel "stuck" and unable to move forward? Many of us are experiencing loneliness, depression, anxiety and social isolation, so it is important to make caring for yourself a priority. Therapy can help you feel more connected, balanced and peaceful. Together, we can help identify what is not working and regain a sense of balance. We'll use a holistic approach, addressing the needs of your body, mind and spirit. We will develop a "toolbox" of coping skills and create new insights and awarenesses to help you become a happier and healthier version of yourself. Seeking therapy can feel threatening but it's one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and by doing so also give to others. In our sessions, I will meet you with kindness, compassion, humor and evidence-based modalities, so you can overcome obstacles and habits that may be holding you back. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, supportive and empathic environment in which to work through current issues, conflicting relationships and/or past pain. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

I am a Christian Clinical, Forensic and Sports Neuropsychologist. Like many folks who get into the mental health field, I had certain mental health challenges. I specialize in the treatment of Trauma and Addiction with family systems and attachment orientation. As a trained child psychologist I also place particular emphasis on developmental aspects of trauma. As a former Navy psychologist with many years working with veterans and first responders, I am very familiar with those cultures. I played college soccer, run 20 marathons, taught scuba as well as being an award winning underwater photographer and competed at the CrossFit World Games for 3 years. I am married, have a son (retired Navy) and a daughter in heaven.

I believe in honoring each individual as the expert of their own life, meeting them without judgment or preconceptions. Counseling, for me, is not about labeling problems but about discovering solutions and effective coping strategies. I work with individuals of all ages, including children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families, who are facing a wide range of challenges, with a particular passion for geriatric mental health. Embarking on therapy is a courageous and potentially life-changing decision, and I am dedicated to supporting you every step of the way. I am deeply committed to helping others realize their full potential. My areas of expertise include providing support for grief, depression, life stressors, divorce, blended families, and individuals and families involved with state agencies.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take Blue Shield of California - Medicare?

Yes! If you use Blue Shield of California - Medicare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Blue Shield of California - Medicare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
