I understand the apprehension in seeking therapy and counseling. I also understand the importance of obtaining therapy in a safe and non-judgmental environment. There are times when we all face a need to seek counsel and professional therapy with someone who is able to relate to your struggles. My clients are provided a safe and understanding environment; an environment where we are able to focus on "solutions".

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

First session is simply a "getting to know you" period. I do a simple assessment and answer any questions from the client as to my plan on what to expect going forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Person Centered, ability to empathize with client's. Patience and knowledge working with children, adolescents and teens. Understanding trauma from both the client and therapist perspective.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize working with children, adolescents and teens teaching self-management skills. Emphasis in anger management, social skills and self-confidence. I also am trained in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy which I utilize in working with couples going through interpersonal distress. We work on developing an awareness of emotions both for yourself and your partner.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to focus on the negative distortions, which I call "Stinkin Thinkin". Teaching clients to value their strengths and abilities and challenge the negative beliefs and replace with positive cognitions.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Trained in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, which I utilize in couples counseling. However use EFT to teach clients and young people how to process their emotions and feelings.

EMDR

Trained in EMDR which I use to treat incidents of trauma, from childhood to adulthood. Trauma inclusive of emotional abuse, physical abuse and/or sexual abuse. EMDR focus on changing the negative belief that trauma imposes on the individual and reprocess the trauma memories and develop positive individual beliefs about self.

Motivational Interviewing

Works with clients on developing goals for improving their quality of life, focus on motivation for decreasing addictive behaviors and using their motivation to improve their negative behaviors and or beliefs.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Uses this method to focus on the individual, using affirmations and validations to teach client's how to affirm themselves and change their outlook on their life experiences and future.
