About me

I’m Kimberly M. Brooks, LCSW. I help adults and couples facing anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship strain, and emotional overwhelm find clarity and peace. My style is warm, direct, and grounding. I offer practical tools, honest insight, and optional faith-integrated support to help you heal, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with confidence. Clients often tell me they appreciate the calm space I create, the clarity that comes from honest conversations, and the steady guidance that helps them move forward.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session, you can expect a calm, honest conversation about what’s been weighing on you. I’ll ask about your current concerns, your history, and what you hope to change. My style is warm and direct, so I’ll help you get to the heart of things without pressure. Together, we’ll begin identifying patterns, clarifying your goals, and creating a plan that feels manageable and supportive. You’ll leave the session with a sense of direction, relief, and a better understanding of where we’re headed in your healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is creating a warm, calm, and grounded space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported. I’m compassionate but also direct, helping you gain clarity without confusion or judgment. My trauma-informed insight allows me to quickly identify emotional patterns and guide you toward healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and responding. I’m skilled at helping both individuals and couples navigate anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship strain, and emotional overwhelm. I offer practical tools you can use right away, along with faith-integrated support for clients who want to include spiritual elements in their healing. Clients often tell me they appreciate my honesty, my ability to explain complex emotions in simple ways, and the sense of peace and direction they feel after each session.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adults and couples who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck emotionally and are ready to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. I work best with individuals who want honest insight, practical tools, and a supportive space to explore anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or spiritual and emotional exhaustion. I’m especially effective with clients who are motivated to grow, open to looking at patterns, and wanting real change, not just temporary relief. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, rebuilding after emotional wounds, or trying to strengthen your relationships, I’m here to help you move toward clarity, peace, and a healthier, more grounded version of yourself.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help people understand how their thoughts affect how they feel and act. A lot of times, we get stuck in negative thinking—like assuming the worst or being too hard on ourselves—and that can lead to feeling anxious, sad, or overwhelmed. We also look at behaviors—what they’re doing (or not doing) that may be making things harder—and create small steps to make positive changes.

Christian Counseling

I use Christian Counseling to help people heal and grow by combining biblical truth with clinical support. I believe that God cares about every part of who we are—spirit, soul, and body—and that real healing comes when we invite Christ into the process. In sessions, I may use prayer, Scripture, and faith-based encouragement along with professional therapy techniques. My goal is to help clients find clarity, purpose, and freedom—not just by talking things through, but by aligning their hearts and minds with God’s Word. Whether they’re dealing with relationship issues, grief, trauma, or life transitions, Christian Counseling helps them see their situation through the lens of hope, faith, and healing.

Couples Counseling

I believe that God designed marriage to be a place of love, unity, and support—but sometimes life, stress, and past hurts can create distance between couples. During sessions, we talk about what's really going on and I am not afraid to ask hard questions when needed. Whether it's trust issues, poor communication, or emotional disconnection, my goal is to help couples build a strong foundation, work on understanding each other and to be aligned with the vision for the family system.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help people explore their own reasons for making positive changes in their lives. It’s a respectful and l work to meet people where they are and helps them move forward at their own pace with confidence and clarity.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients focus on their strengths and find practical steps toward their goals. Instead of spending a lot of time on problems, we look at what’s working, what they want to see change, and how to build on the progress they’ve already made. It’s a positive, goal-driven approach that helps people move forward with hope and confidence.

I requested a woman of color and a mother for a therapist and I’m so pleased with who I was referred to. I like that I felt very comfortable to open up to her with the questions that she asked so that she can get a better understanding of how to help me. She was patient and I felt like she completely understood what my needs are and she was able to meet my concerns with ease.
