Hello and Welcome! I'm Andrea Irvine, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I specialize in working with adults impacted by life transitions and seeking support to cope with their day-to-day challenges. Has your life changed in such a way that your happiness, sense of self, or health is now affected? Are you feeling overwhelmed, cycling through feelings of anxiety, depression, or grief? Life changes and challenges can negatively affect our overall well-being, relationships, and work and it's not uncommon to feel stuck, fearful, depleted, or disappointed. Sometimes we need extra support to navigate through our experiences. I believe therapy can be an important resource and an opportunity for you to make positive long-term changes in your life. I am committed to providing you with a safe, compassionate and collaborative space where you may bring your whole self and we can focus on the interconnection between your mind and body. Together, we will explore your concerns, identify your needs and goals, and discover the tools that are meaningful for your healing and personal journey to wellness. I bring over 15 years of clinical experience working with adults from various backgrounds and cultures. In addition to therapy, I have worked in large hospital systems as part of the medical team and specialized in providing supportive services to patients and their caregivers in the Neuro/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. I have a passion for helping others and I'm here to support you. Most of my clients see me for: Coping with new onset or chronic illness or injury, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, medical trauma, caregiving challenges, palliative care, and substance use/addiction. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in Health from the University of California at Berkeley. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Alcohol and Drug Studies from Loyola Marymount University. I am also a Clinical Supervisor for Associate Social Workers pursuing licensure.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will work closely with you to personalize a treatment plan that meets your specific needs and supports your goals. I hope that you will come away from our work together feeling a greater sense of self, connection, and overall health. You can expect to develop healthy coping mechanisms to utilize for your long-term benefit.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize a combination of goal-oriented therapy practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate mindfulness techniques to help you manage symptoms.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am an active listener, honest, and straightforward. I use a strengths-based approach to help restore and further develop your sense of self and resilience. It's important to me to establish a connection with you, inspire hope, and assist you in taking steps to feel more empowered despite your circumstances.
