Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I'm a short-term, solution-oriented therapist that focuses on identifying and relieving on mild-to-moderate mental health symptoms, likely related to newer onset life stressors: family and relationship issues, school and work, grief and loss, medical diagnoses, etc. Though I would love to serve all that are seeking mental health therapy, it's important that I remain within my scope of competence and scope of practice. Therefore, I'm ethically unable to accept clients seeking long-term/maintenance care or specialized interventions (e.g., trauma, OCD, etc.). My approach to therapy tends to resonate best with clients who are moderately motivated to truly seek out solutions to their issues and symptoms, and are willing to do the work- both in session, and out- to achieve the results desired. We collaborate to identify the issues, and put in the actual work to make change for resolution. Though I am a clinician that utilizes evidence-based practices and interventions, I would definitely say I'm also a bit of a life coach!
In our first session, we will get to know each other, and I'll likely ask you quite a few intake questions. However, you should absolutely expect to jump right into it: what brings you to therapy? What are your stressors? How long has this been going on and how is it making you feel? Let's unpack. Let's process. Then, much sooner than later, let's start looking for solutions!
I believe my greatest strengths are my honesty and transparency, true desire for those to heal and live healthy/happy/safe lives, my directness, my compassion, and my strengths-based and solution-oriented approach.
The number one line that describes the clients that have success in therapy with me is simple: change requires action! And, of course, not just any action, but positive and productive action toward accomplishing treatment goals and resolving symptoms. There will be (admittedly simple) readings and other homework to do outside of our sessions. Those who are truly motivated and willing to put in the time and work toward finding resolution and peace tend to have success with me in our short-term therapeutic journey.
I utilize CBT for processing and reframing at the forefront, and acceptance and healing as the outcome.
Recognizing what we can control and what we cannot is such a powerful frame of mind for healing and resolve.
So few of us recognize our strengths and abilities, and how important it is to build them and utilize them when needed to get through difficult times.
Processing grief and loss, recognizing how the symptoms can present and impact your daily life, are important for healing.
Let's identify the issues, process how you feel about it, and truly seek solutions that will work toward healing.
