Howdy. I’m a licensed clinical social worker who believes in the inherent worth and value of every individual, even when it may be hard to see. I live in a small cabin in the mountains of San Diego and often utilize nature as part of the healing process. As a clinician, I will support you without blame or judgment, meeting you right where you are. While I don't have all the answers, I will listen to your aspirations and walk alongside you on your journey to achieve them. If you're uncertain about your goals or feel that things aren't going well, that's perfectly fine too, we can explore that together.
In our first session, I look forward to discovering what has led you to therapy and gain an understanding on how I can assist you. My aim is for us to connect, explore what has been effective or ineffective for you in the past, and build a foundation of trust and respect between us.
My therapeutic approach is centered around you as an individual. I begin by using motivational interviewing to identify what isn’t working in your life and help you set small, achievable goals to create the life you desire. None of us are perfect; we all make choices, both healthy and unhealthy, and each choice offers a valuable opportunity for growth.
I have a passion for humanity. My ideal client is someone who feels that their life is unbalanced. They may not be certain about what needs to be changed but they recognize that their current situation isn't fulfilling. The initial step toward achieving a desired life is realizing that the present life you are living isn't serving you well, it is after the feeling of imbalance this that we begin the exploration process.
I utilize EMDR treatment with individuals who have experienced trauma and are searching for a better understanding of how their trauma impacts or has impacted them. I use this type of therapy in order to reprocess unresolved traumatic memories stored in the brain.
I utilize CBT treatment with individuals who are experiencing negative thought patterns. The 'what ifs' and 'should haves' can really impact the way we see ourselves in the world. This type of therapy can be very healing for people who feel stuck in the hole of depression and anxiety.
I utilize MI treatment with individuals who are seeking to better understand their behaviors. Sometimes we know things are not working in our lives, we may know we want things to be different, but we are struggling to put action into motion. I use this type of therapy to support people who are contemplating a change in behaviors however aren't quite sure where to begin.
I utilize couples counseling with couples who are seeking to improve their relationship. If there are times you feel unsupported, unheard, angry, sad, and disconnected from your partner, this type of therapy can be beneficial in helping you learn healthier communication skills in order to feel heard and understood and be more connected to your partner.
I utilize Grief Therapy with individuals who have experienced loss. I feel that grief is our emotional response to loss; the loss of a pet, loss of health, a divorce, loss of a job, and death of a loved are all experiences that can create grief. Grief therapy is helpful to process a change or a loss in order to begin healing.
