LMFT, 35 years of experience
New to Grow
Stan Speck LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA) About Me Hello, and welcome. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, currently licensed in California. Although I relocated to Washington three years ago, I continue to offer telehealth therapy exclusively for clients residing in California. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Westmont College and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, both in Santa Barbara. With over 35 years of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families overcome life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and evidence-based care. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and stress-related concerns. I also have extensive experience working with substance use issues and supporting the healing process for both individuals and families affected by addiction. My approach integrates proven therapeutic techniques to explore patterns, address past experiences, and develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. Whether you’re looking to improve communication, break free from unhelpful cycles, or gain deeper personal insight, our work together can support you in moving toward greater clarity, connection, and emotional well-being.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know one another and explore what brings you to therapy. We’ll begin identifying clear, achievable goals based on your needs. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable, respected, and ready to engage in meaningful work.
Clients often share that they feel truly heard and understood in our sessions. My style is grounded, compassionate, and straight forward, balancing empathy with practical tools and insights. With decades of clinical experience, I bring a thoughtful, results-oriented approach to every session, helping clients feel empowered to create lasting change.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds and life stages. I have particular expertise in supporting parents of teens and young adults, as well as people in high-stress professions. As a Marine Veteran, I bring a unique understanding of the challenges faced by First Responders, Veterans, and others impacted by trauma. My clients often experience meaningful growth through greater awareness of their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses.
I have over 35 years of experience in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with adolescents and adults to better understand and challenge thoughts that impact their behavior positively or negatively. I use this approach in a solution focused, positive and practical manner to help clients shift to healthier more productive insight into themselves and others. This helps to create more positive relationships and responses that help improve personal and professional growth and development.
