Hola, My name is Ruby Pena, I am Latinx Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I use a client-centered approach to help treat depression, anxiety, life stressors and trauma in adults.I use evidenced based practices such as CBT and DBT in my practice while incorporating a social justice framework that acknowledges historical and generational trauma that impact the emotional well-being of families and individuals.
In our first session, I will ensure a safe and confidential space to begin building out therapeutic relationships. We will focus on getting to know one another this will include gathering a brief history, current stressors/concerns, and reason for seeking therapy. This space will set the building blocks for what our future sessions will look like.
I believe one of my greatest strengths as a provider is being able to connect with my clients by being able to get in touch with our human side. Regardless of what method of treatment, I am using the most important thing to me is building a strong therapeutic relationship of trust and safety during your sessions.
My professional experience has been focused on working with young adults and adults who have experienced trauma. My clients often are people of color who have had difficulties being able to talk about their feelings and experiences. Session the become a safe to learn and heal.
Trauma-informed CBT starts with creating a safe and trusting environment, prioritizing the client's comfort and control. We will collaboratively explore how past traumatic experiences influence current thoughts and behaviors while gently challenging distorted beliefs to create change.
I used empathetic listening and helping guide clients to explore their ambivalence about change, fostering self-motivation and commitment to make positive behavioral changes.
I create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment, that allows clients to explore and develop their self-awareness, personal growth, and potential. I focus on the client's subjective experience, self-actualization, and the belief in their capacity for self-directed change and fulfillment.
