Hi, my name is Craig. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess "something" isn't OK. That "something" may be new or it may have been around for quite some time. You might be able to describe that "something" perfectly or maybe you don't know what that "something" is, but you know you are just feeling "off". Maybe you are familiar with therapy, or maybe this is the first time considering it. The only thing that matters at this moment is that you are taking that first step. I start from where you are at and work with you from there. No assumptions, judgements, or "one size fits all" approaches. Just a desire to understand you, your needs and your goals for therapy. Therapy is a different experience for everyone. I understand that and we will work together in addressing whatever has led you to taking this first step.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The early stage of therapy is usually a lot of questions about you, your life and the history of what has led you to therapy. Therapy can be difficult at times as well as light hearted. The human experience is not black and white and neither is therapy. I want you to leave each session feeling encouraged, supported, and accepted. This will allow us the best environment to work towards the therapy goals we establish together. Whether it is just a few sessions to reach those goals or a long-term process, you will have a knowledgeable guide on your journey.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I pull from many types of therapy, based on you and your needs. I use an integrative approach to therapy, pulling from various models that I believe will best match for you. Skill based approaches are useful and beneficial in managing and reducing distress in the present. Sometimes though, the current distress is deeper and more invasive. In these cases, we will work to heal from the core for more sustained improvements in your quality of life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Being a Marine Veteran, I bring a lived understanding of military life and culture. I have experience working in various legal justice programs allowing me to understand the unique stresses legal situations can bring. I also have experience working with individuals in substance abuse treatment programs and couples that are dealing with the presence of substance use. I am also passionate about trying to help those who have struggled, maybe silently, with depression and feelings of low self-worth realize a new life.
