I'm a therapist and founder of Get Psyched Therapy & Coaching, and I work almost exclusively with late-diagnosed AUDHD adults—especially parents. That specificity isn't random: I'm late-diagnosed myself, and that experience fundamentally shaped both who I am and how I practice. I know what it feels like to finally understand why things were always hard. The relief of answers mixed with grief over lost time. The weird joy of realizing you're not broken—you're wired differently. And the complicated reality of being neurodivergent while raising other humans. When you work with me, you get someone who actually gets it. Not just clinically, but because I've lived it. I meet you where you are—no shame, no pressure. I follow your pace and your interests, not a rigid format. Some sessions are deep therapeutic work. Others might involve a game or creative tool because your nervous system needs something hands-on that day. Both matter. I believe healing and growth don't have to look "normal"—they look like you. My clients often come exhausted from being told their struggles mean they're lazy or not trying hard enough. They're ready to stop masking and to be genuinely understood. They want someone in the room who recognizes that the both/and is real: you can be a neurodivergent person and a capable parent. You can struggle and be trying your absolute best. Those things coexist. I bring clinical expertise grounded in lived experience. That combination changes everything—it means I don't pathologize neurodivergence, I validate what you're carrying, and I help you build a life that actually works for how your brain works, not despite it. If you're late-diagnosed, burnt out, and ready to stop pretending, let's talk.

“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you—all of the expectations, all of the beliefs—and becoming who you are.” —Rachel Naomi Remen Hello! I’m Lauresha Hawkins, LCSW, MSW, MPH, Founder and CEO of Mental Wellness University, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Inc., based in California. I am licensed to provide therapy in both California and Alaska and serve as an independent provider with Grow Therapy. Trust, authenticity, and rapport are the foundation of my therapeutic relationships. My approach is eclectic, trauma-informed, and personalized to meet each client’s unique needs. I am passionate about supporting and empowering people from all walks of life, including individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, substance use concerns, perinatal mental health conditions, life transitions, and other challenges affecting their emotional well-being. I bring more than 15 years of experience in social work, including eight years of providing mental health services as an associate and licensed clinician. My professional experience spans specialized short-term residential therapeutic programs, outpatient clinics, managed care, foster care systems, and psychiatric hospitals. These diverse roles have strengthened my ability to understand not only mental health symptoms but also the real-life systems, relationships, and circumstances that can affect a person’s ability to heal. My passion lies in serving youth, Transitional Age Youth (TAY), adults, and mature adults—particularly individuals from vulnerable or historically underserved communities. This includes BIPOC individuals, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions. I understand that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Together, we will create a space where you can feel seen, heard, supported, and safely challenged as you work toward becoming more fully who you are. www.mentalwllnessuniversityinc.com

I’m a first-generation, Vietnamese, transgender, and queer therapist who brings both professional training and lived experience to the work. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. In my practice, I often draw from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process trauma and experiences in a way that feels restorative. EMDR supports the brain’s natural healing by using bilateral stimulation—like eye or auditory movements —to reprocess memories and reduce their emotional intensity. I also use Narrative Therapy, which invites clients to explore the stories they’ve been told or have come to believe about themselves. Together, we uncover how those stories were shaped—by culture, relationships, systems, or past experiences—and work toward reclaiming narratives that center resilience, agency, and authenticity. I understand the importance of creating a space where clients feel seen, affirmed, and safe to show up as their full selves. Whether you’re navigating trauma, identity exploration, or simply seeking to reconnect with yourself, I’m here support you in that process with care, collaboration, and accountability. Are you looking for a mental health letter for gender-affirming surgery? I write those! Feel free to reach out for short-term therapy services to complete the letter assessment process with me. My practice uses old fashioned, human-generated tools and information methodically accumulated over years of community and evidenced based research. I do not use AI programs at any point in the therapeutic process. *I am not currently accepting family, couples, or group counseling inquiries* *My evening appointment spots are full* *Pls inquire about my reduced rate spots at $150/hr*

My approach is client-centered and collaborative, rooted in the belief that healing begins by recognizing and building on each person’s unique strengths. Through hope-inducing relationships, goal-oriented work, and compassionate support, I help individuals identify problem areas that may be trauma or may be something they did not know they could change. We give it a felt sense, validate it, understand it and how it fits or doesn't fit in their life and brainstorm methods to help. We can discuss boundaries, self-awareness building skills, and work slowly. We can also gently discuss things that have been traumatic and process moments in small segments that will help build more inner strenghts and resources, beyond trauma, and toward empowered, meaningful change. My strengths are with sensitive, empathic, individuals struggling to find their voice. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I specialize in trauma-informed care, drawing from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), somatic techniques and strength-based approaches to support lasting healing and growth. I am EMDRIA-trained. I also hold certificates in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy utilizing Internal Family Systems Parts Works (inner ecosystem perspectives), and Somatic EMDR Therapy, which allow me to help clients reconnect with their bodies, identify stored trauma, and restore a sense of presence and safety.

Hello! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, proudly based in Oakland, California. I have supported folks over the last decade and was called to social work while employed at an art studio for adults with various health needs. In 2017, I received my Master's in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. I have been practicing as a social worker for 9 years. I support folks 18+ in navigating trauma and self worth. As a Lebanese-American therapist, I aim to work with folks who are seeking the opportunity to re-examine their cultural storyline and get creative in unpacking their identity. Together, let’s challenge societal expectations and strive to center your authentic self. A little about me, personally: I identify as an artist and child of the earth, as diaspora has scattered my ancestors across the Arab world, Africa, Europe, and North America. I am fascinated by intersectionality and the powerful ways that resilience shapes our multi-hyphenate individuality. It is important that I take care of myself so that I can be a pillar of support to my clients. The way that I release painful feelings is by channeling them into creative projects. I also work hard to stay connected to my body and my surroundings. Whether it’s through writing, building clay sculptures, beading, or making collages, self-expression is a healing practice. I encourage everyone to play a little bit!

I identify as queer, fat, femme and have a mixture of indigenous and colonizer DNA. I share this first because the way we identify matters. Many reasons and factors stop us from being ourselves around others and often, when we can't fully live who we are, our mental health suffers. If that's you, I'm here to help. We can work through body image issues, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, trauma, conflict management together if you're willing to do the work of honestly engaging in therapy with me. I grew up on the East Coast to immigrant parents from Colombia and lived in SoCal for 15 years and recently moved back home to be near my parents. I have a rescued pitbull that brings me lots of peace and joy and you might see him napping behind me via telehealth sessions. I enjoy hiking, cooking, reading (fiction for fun), and taking care of my indoor plants. I love learning about indigenous wisdom/practices from all over the world, herbalism, tarot, and other healing practices and beliefs that folks use to find meaning and wellness. Last but not least, I really love my job! And I do it because I believe in it and have witnessed many people shift, grow, break patterns and learn new ones that significantly improve quality of life. If you're curious but unsure if I'd be the right fit for you, email me and we can schedule a 15 minute chat (free of charge) where you can get a better idea and ask a few questions to find out if this would be a good option for you. Please keep your email short and only include your interest in scheduling a 15 minute call and 1 or 2 sentences of what you're looking for. My email is: ericaarizalcsw @ gmail.com

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming — especially if you’ve spent years feeling anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or trapped in unhealthy relationship patterns. You may be carrying the effects of trauma, chronic stress, people-pleasing, or narcissistic abuse while trying to hold everything together on the outside. If that sounds familiar, you are not alone, and healing is possible. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, trauma, low self-worth, emotional overwhelm, relationship wounds, and the lasting impact of narcissistic or emotionally abusive partner or parent/childhood relationships. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in survival mode — constantly overthinking, walking on eggshells, questioning themselves, or feeling emotionally drained. Together, we work to help you feel safer in your body, more confident in your boundaries, and more connected to who you truly are. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in creating a space where you feel genuinely seen and understood without judgment. I believe therapy should feel supportive and empowering, not clinical or cold. I integrate evidence-based approaches while also focusing deeply on emotional safety, self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and practical tools you can use in everyday life. Whether you are recovering from trauma, navigating difficult partner relationships, struggling with anxiety, or trying to rebuild your sense of self after emotional abuse, therapy can help you regain clarity, confidence, and peace. You do not have to continue carrying this alone. Reaching out for help takes courage. If you’re ready to begin healing and creating healthier patterns, I’d be honored to support you.

Hello! I’m Gloria, a Filipina licensed clinical psychologist originally from Guam, now based in the Bay Area, CA. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and have specialized training in treating depression, anxiety, addiction, and multicultural concerns, areas that continue to guide my work today. My clinical experience includes working in a variety of settings, where I’ve supported clients through identity exploration, emotional challenges, and major life transitions. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, and tailor each session to your unique needs and goals. Before becoming a psychologist, I spent eight years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a memory care unit, supporting individuals with dementia and their families. That experience shaped my understanding of caregiver stress and inspired my doctoral dissertation, which focused on the emotional impact of caregiving. It also deepened my belief that self-care and balance aren’t luxuries, they’re essential to our well-being. At the core of my work is the belief that therapy should be a safe, inclusive, and empowering space, one where your full self is welcomed and affirmed. I bring a deep commitment to cultural sensitivity, authenticity, and compassion, drawing from both my professional training and lived experience. Therapy with me is not just about managing challenges, it’s about growth, healing, and creating a life that feels true to you. I look forward to walking alongside you on that journey.

My practice, Raíz Psychotherapy, is deeply grounded in the understanding of how systemic issues of the world we live in play major roles in our mental health. Acknowledging the system impacts to individuals’’ lives, I take a liberatory approach as we dive deeper in our work together to explore the factors influencing your day-to-day life to better support you in meeting your therapeutic goals. I love to work with people who are motivated to engage in therapy, and that can look many different ways. Sometimes motivation manifests as curiosity to look at certain patterns or areas of your life in new ways, it can also look like knowing exactly what changes you want to make in your life and knowing it's time to start that work, and or others being motivated looks like finally taking the big step to ask for support. Regardless of how motivation looks for you, if this resonates with you, we can do great work together to get to the root of your experience and create change. Past clients have described me as collaborative, understanding, trustworthy, authentic, and supportive.

I’m a licensed professional counselor with 20 years of experience in community mental health settings. As a therapist and behavioral health practitioner, I have worked with complex trauma, psychosis, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring substance use. I have a masters degree in clinical psychology from the University of Amsterdam and lived in the Netherlands for six years. There, I also began building my family, and that international foundation shaped both how I think and how I work. I work with adults navigating a wide range of life challenges — from anxiety, depression, and relationship patterns to identity, major transitions, and the quieter but persistent sense that something just isn’t working. This includes people working through faith transitions or untangling the psychological weight of a strict or high-control religious upbringing — something I understand not just clinically, but personally. Are you trying to untangle a personal and/or relational challenge where your sexual behavior is a factor? Maybe it is an affair that just got found out and you have been accused of being a sex addict. Perhaps you are struggling with mismatched sexual desire with your partner, so you supplement with porn and masturbation (in secret)! Maybe your goal is to solve the dilemma of how to come out as gay, lesbian or some other important identity in the LGBTQ+ rainbow? Is religious shame and guilt making you feel horrible for what are actually normal sexual interests and desires? Is past trauma impacting your sexual health? People from all walks of life have been coming to work with me on the sexual and relationship issues I describe above. In the past 13 years, I have dedicated my clinical focus in the areas of sex therapy and problematic sexual behavior. The good news is that together we can make a difference–you don’t have to face these challenges alone! So, if you are tired of the negative results you are getting by avoiding your sexual challenges and you are ready to face your fears with courage, I invite you to reach out! Remember, your particular situation is likely unique, and I can take you beyond the limits of self-help!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over three decades of experience in mental health and clinical experience. I draw from 63 years of my own life experience as a gay man, educational (MSW from the University of Connecticut) and practical knowledge. Thus I understand what it’s like to be marginalized, and feel different like you don’t belong. I use a compassionate, non- judgmental, understanding, strength based approach by acknowledging and welcoming your whole person, body, mind, and spirit. I can help one understand who they are? where they've been? and how they can move forward in their life.

Hello! My name is Olivia, I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and am dedicated to supporting people heal from C-PTSD and regain the ability to feel the full spectrum of their emotions and aliveness. I love supporting people to feel safe in their bodies and heal from childhood trauma that is holding them back from being fully present in their lives now. Trauma does not have to be a life sentence, healing is possible and I can be there to support you every step of the way. All parts of you are welcome here, you can show up exactly as you are. I believe therapy should be a place where you can take off your mask and be real about your pain, what has happened to you and what you long for. I was called to this work after beginning my own healing journey and I trust in the innate capacity each one of us has for wholeness, joy and a life worth living. It takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help and I am honored to meet you in this moment and walk alongside you on your healing journey. You don't have to do this alone. I have a Masters Degree in Integral Counselling Psychology from the Institute of Integral Studies which specialized in cultivating healing at the level of mind, body and spirit. In my free time you can find me dancing, playing harp or hand pan, hiking, practicing yoga, making art or being with my loved ones. I recharge by meditating and spending time in nature. I am queer and experienced with working with the queer community and with people living alternative lifestyles such as non-monogamy.

Hello and welcome! My name is Pamuela Halliwell (she/her) and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I’ve been working in the mental health field for the past 10 years, largely working with folx that identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, especially trans/nonbinary folx, military members, both active duty and transitioning out, and other marginalized communities such as African American, BIPOC, folx seeking asylum, and folx impacted by trauma. As a Black trans woman that has had to navigate her own transition, I incorporate lived and professional experience to help folx tap into their own strength and resilience and become improved versions of themselves. Treatment modalities that I use include TFCBT, CBT, EMDR, Solution Focused, Schema Therapy and elements of Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and Narrative Therapy.

Hi there and great job on taking that first step in considering if therapy is right for you. I invite you to come with me on a journey of your own choosing where we will walk together in darkness to find the light you’ve been seeking. Whether it’s life’s little annoying stressors or more complex issues, as a trauma survivor myself, I know firsthand what this is like and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Whether you choose me or another therapist, make the choice to just give it a try. Sometimes all you need is another person to hold the light while you do the work you need to heal.

I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist offering individual and couples therapy to adults throughout California. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, identity, and major life transitions. I have particular experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients, members of the adoption constellation, and professionals working in entertainment and other creative fields. My approach is warm, relational, and depth-oriented. I believe meaningful therapy involves more than managing symptoms—it creates space to understand the deeper patterns, relationships, and experiences shaping your life. Depending on your needs, I draw from psychodynamic and Jungian therapy, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, family systems, narrative therapy, dream work, and practical cognitive-behavioral tools. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working as a producer in film and television. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of creative ambition, unpredictable careers, collaboration, rejection, and the pressure to keep performing even when something internally feels stuck. I bring curiosity, humor, compassion, and genuine engagement into the therapy room. My goal is to offer a space where you can speak honestly, feel deeply understood, and develop a stronger relationship with yourself and the people who matter to you.

I specialize in treating LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kinky folx, navigating everything from trauma to depression and anxiety, often intersecting with questions of identity and relationships. I value walking with clients as they understand more about who they are and how they relate to the world around them. Together, we’ll create a grounded and supportive space to explore identity related to gender, sexuality, race, and neurodiversity, uncover patterns that may no longer serve you, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, connected, and whole. Whether this is your first time exploring therapy or you're looking for a new perspective, I’m glad you’re here!

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human relationship. My goal is to create an environment where you feel accepted, challenged, and supported—not judged. I'll celebrate your successes with you, help you make sense of the difficult moments, and gently point out the patterns that may be holding you back. I bring curiosity, humor, and compassion into my work because meaningful growth doesn't have to happen in a room that feels cold or intimidating.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
