I am originally from Los Angeles and moved to Amherst Massachusetts to study photojournalism at Hampshire College. While I appreciated that pictures tell their own stories, I felt pulled to linger within the ongoing experiences of the folks I captured on film. Obtaining my graduate degree in psychodynamic therapy from Smith College confirmed the importance and complexities of witnessing people beyond just a moment in time.

I am an affirmative therapist and am LGBTQIA+ allied (I myself identify as gender queer and pansexual), BLM allied, Indigenous/native allied, API allied, Latinx allied, Disability allied, Deaf allied, Vegan allied (I myself am Vegan), and polyamory allied. I specialize in serving patients suffering suicide loss at any stage of the loss. I also specialize in attachment/family systems informed individual care and CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia). I also hold particular interest and experience in serving adults with ASD, ID or DD, adult children of narcissists, those who have suffered brainwashing and those who have suffered paranormal trauma. I have years of experience in serving patients with a multitude of mental health and relational difficulties. I consider my orientation as a therapist to be first and foremost client-centered and strength-based. Although I utilize various therapeutic approaches, I chiefly consider myself to be a narrative/Rogerian therapist. This means that I work to help my patients take back the power and control over their own stories and assist them by co-authoring a narrative that truly witnesses and respects their traumas, tragedies, injustices, achievements, triumphs, milestones, strengths, and resiliency. I do this while holding empathy, congruency and unconditional positive regard as my three major tenants in the therapeutic alliance. I specialize in therapy for: adult individuals suffering depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relational difficulties, traumatic grief, suicide loss, relational and attachment traumas, victims of psychological torture/emotional abuse/brainwashing, adult children of narcissists, sufferers of paranormal traumas, military and first-responder trauma, vegans, LGBTQIA+, adults with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Developmental disabilities (DD), people struggling with life stressors, and those struggling with identity.

I’m an LMFT/ CSAT/ CMAT doing private practice counseling and group therapy in Los Angeles. I’ve been a therapist for almost 7 years, experienced in treating sex/ porn addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, substance use, ADHD, and church hurt in private practice, recovery clinics, and faith-based settings. As a CSAT, I pay special attention to intimacy disorders, and believe the best way to treat addiction, depression, or sin is about finding real hope and meaningful connection rather than “managing bad behaviors.” What I really want you to know about me is that I believe so much in the therapy process, because my life was changed forever by the counselors that have helped me to overcome my own mental health struggles. A little more about me that makes me who I am as a therapist? I was a pastor for 17 years and I feel humbled when I can come alongside ministry leaders in a crisis of faith. As a gay Christian, I’m especially proud to share my story with other LGBTQ+ individuals who long for self-acceptance and inclusion in the church. I was a songwriter in my younger days and enjoy finding creative ways to help people heal. I believe we find our greatest purpose in the center of our pain, and I will probably get super excited when you do too.

I am a husband, father, and twin brother (I have and identical twin sister). I am also a reiki master and hypnotherapist. When I am not conducting psychotherapy (talk therapy), I enjoy conducting past life regressions to help people resolve past life trauma. I also use hypnotherapy to heal trauma. Hypnotherapy is not covered by most insurances and may result in cash pay. I enjoy helping people identify their wants and needs so they can then identify their goals and dreams. I believe we all have had experiences that have stifled our self-confidence which then causes us to doubt our ability. I enjoy helping people discover that part of themselves that is hidden as a result. I believe the world is a collective of people. We need to take care of ourselves, each other, and the animals we share this planet with. I DO NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPT COUPLES FOR MARRIAGE COUNSELING.

My heart and practice has also been shaped by seven vibrant years in San Francisco. My approach is creative, compassionate, and affirming. I believe healing happens when we feel truly seen, and I strive to create a space where you can show up as your full self. Outside of therapy, I’m deeply inspired by music (of all genres), art, and all things creative. I bring that same spirit into my work, helping clients tap into their own resilience, insight, and expression.

I am a queer and latine Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has a strong passion for social justice, harm reduction, and compassion led treatment. I come with a warm, supportive, empowering, and empathetic approach that believes every client has the strength within them to rise above their current circumstances. I believe in dismantling harmful stigma people often carry within them around mental health or substance use in order to promote self-acceptance and self-love. I believe I cannot truly support a client without culture sensitivity and creating a nonjudgmental space where a client feels safe AND brave enough to come as their whole self. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. As your therapist I will support you in building the skills you need to navigate everyday life stressors. I have years of experience working in the areas of anxiety, trauma, suicidality, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorder, and relationship issues. I also have had the opportunity to work in diverse settings both inpatient and outpatient programs, long and short term, and with various populations of different cultural, ethnic, sexual orientations, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I am a strong believer in providing a safe space for everyone. It can be difficult at times to find openness and support and I am happy to help with those challenges. It is important to develop a safe non-judgmental space to help build a better trusting relationship to help guide you and learn ways to live with more joy and fulfillment in your life. It is not easy to reach out and ask for help. It is incredibly difficult for so many people to seek the care they need. You are already taking one of the most important steps and allowing yourself to make your self-care a priority. This process can be both confusing and overwhelming, but I am looking forward to working collaboratively with you on this journey.

If you feel distant from your usual self, or out of place in your day to day encounters, therapy with me can be a safe reintroduction to yourself. I will be an ally, a guide and sometimes a mirror. I have up close and personal experience with recovery from addiction, broken families and broken hearts. I became a therapist after many years of being a first responder. What I learned is that when people feel heard they respond because they feel safe. Being a therapist is helping with a different type of wound, but people know when some one truly cares how they are feeling. Trauma is not only physical, our emotional trauma must be processed in order for us to grow.

Hello dear reader, I am Carol, born and raised in Malaysia and have been residing in the US for over three decades since my undergraduate years in New England and eventually resettling in Southern California. Prior to my full time work as a therapist, I spent most of my life engaged in social justice work focused on racial solidarity building, immigrant rights and worker rights advocacy and in the anti-violence against women movement. I have a background in healing and prevention work within public health, health and community mental health agencies, immigration, family and criminal court-based trauma services, in academia, with global NGOs on women's health services for over three decades in the US and South East Asia. This drive to engage in social change work stemmed from my experiences growing up as a child of working class immigrants in Asia, having experienced, embodied and witnessed the painful effects and realities of racism, colorism, classism and xenophobia, from as young as I can remember. Gratefully, I also experienced the antidote in the goodness, solidarity, strengths, creativity, joy, mutual aid, deep friendships, faith, spirituality and community caring for each other, amidst life's hurdles. As a child, I strived to be a part of the solution, not a bystander, but an agent of social change, to knit communities in solidarity for peace. As a grown person, I have met my calling in bearing witness for healing harms done to the soul, holding a nurturing, loving and protective space for those looking to mend the raw and painful places that have yet to be tended, to find or reclaim the innate voice of your wisdom to speak your truth and to build, rebuild or restore inner strength and confidence.

Welcome! *I am currently only taking virtual EAP (employee assistance program) clients.* I work with people outside in the natural world, engaging in ecotherapy practices. We would meet at a local park in the East Bay Area, where we would sit, walk, or explore the area while tending to whatever emotions or questions are arising in you. Connecting with nature has been shown to reduce stress, loneliness, depression, and anxiety and provides a rich landscape for personal growth and healing. If you are interested in learning more, please sign up for a free 15-minute consultation (please do so before scheduling an initial session). Current openings: Thursday afternoons at Tilden Park. Ecotherapy is somewhat different than traditional talk therapy. While there will be space for you to share what is going on in your life, we will also take time to do grounding exercises, practice mindfulness and guided visualizations, and engage with the natural world. This modality provides a uniquely large "container" for healing work associated with woundings from childhood, traumatic experiences, grief, and unlearning patterns that no longer serve you. The natural world shows us the lifecycles of plants and animals, the interdependence of ecosystems, and the colors, textures, sounds and smells that awaken our senses. In this context, there are endless ways to make meaning of the suffering you are experiencing and to gain insight into your emotions and relationships. For people who are exploring their purpose and are considering work or relationship changes, ecotherapy can support you to embody your true self and better understand your role within the community.

Hello! My Name is Georgina, I am an LCSW practicing in Southern California. I specialize in the areas of relationship and family trauma. I take an inclusive, person-centered approach to explore how our past experiences influence the way we walk through the world. My goal is to help you find authentic confidence in the ways you engage in self-care, relationships, and the ongoing transitions in your life. If you feel as though your foundation for relationships (familial, platonic, or romantic) was not built on solid ground, I am here to help. It is easy to feel alone when we are struggling. Community is an essential part of our lives, and improving how we seek connection is imperative. Together we can develop the skills needed to meet life with confidence. Starting therapy can be both exciting and intimidating. Our healing journey can sometimes lead us down unfamiliar paths that are difficult to navigate alone. Sharing our innermost concerns, although vulnerable, can provide some relief. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space for you to explore your worries and gain some peace of mind. *PLEASE NOTE: I am not able to accommodate for session times that are not shown on my scheduling availability calendar. As a second-generation Latina, I bring an informed perspective to the challenges many communities of color face, including the impact of systemic inequities, identity struggles, and cultural barriers. I also know that everyone—no matter their background—can experience moments in life that feel overwhelming. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of past trauma, or maybe the stress of everyday life feels like too much. The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for support is not always easy, but it’s a powerful and courageous step toward healing and growth. For years, I’ve dedicated myself to serving my community in a variety of settings, from community clinics to crisis counseling. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+, as well as with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and other life transitions. My work as a 911 crisis counselor especially taught me the importance of holding space during life’s most difficult moments. I believe that everyone's story matters and I’m here to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and heal. Together, we can build insight, break patterns, and create new paths forward. My goal is to walk beside you on your journey toward wellness so that when you leave, you feel empowered, grounded, and ready for what's ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
