Welcome! I am a licensed clinician with a masters in marriage and family therapy and a background in pastoral ministry and counseling. I have been a therapist for 15 years and specialize in helping people move through loss, change, relational stress, career stress, and life transition through a holistic, humanistic, eclectic, and straight forward approach. Working with me, you will be challenged to move past the obstacles you face as you move towards your self-defined goals. *Please note I do not schedule appointments on weekends or evenings and will not be opening weekend or evening appointments anytime soon. Due to my caseload, my availability now is limited to between the late morning to mid- afternoon. *
During our first session together, we will begin by coming to understand what brings you into therapy, then we will be reviewing your rights as a client, proceeding to brief introductions after that. After introductions we will explore the specific challenges and obstacles you are experiencing so I can create a more individualized plan for us to work through during follow-up sessions that are tailored to your needs.
Having worked with people from all walks of life, I have developed a method which includes deep listening and hearing the words not said, then utilizing the themes and struggles you experience to propel you forward in your exploration and discovery. My strength is being able to get to the causes of your experience like addressing the fire that causes the smoke in your life- the smoke may be the most obvious symptom, but dealing with the fire will reduce the smoke and destruction. My hope is that we get you to a day where you will no longer need my services.
I utilize an eclectic and integrative approach, that puts your humanness at the center and takes many treatment modalities to individualize treatment and care to challenge and change narratives and habits you may have that no longer serve you. Some modalities I integrate into the session include: narrative, grief, compassion-focused, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavior activation, ACT, solutions-focused and strengths-based therapy, positive psychology, existential and transpersonal psychology, and mindfulness.
At the center of therapy is you, through this experience I provide a non-judgmental approach to centering your needs and strengths.
With a deep understanding of how stress and trauma can impact our lives, I take a holistic approach to address the ripples of pain, loss, grief, and trauma as we work to transform trauma. Trauma not transformed is trauma that is often transmitted.
All loss, change, and transition must be grieved. Grief is the movement from a sense of loss to a sense of new wholeness and living. I utilize a grief perspective to help you move through change, loss, and transition in order to dream again and build towards a new wholeness while honoring our past and what we lose.
Raised in a religious household, I became curious about various religions and faith practices and engaged in open exploration. I understand how a person's spirituality and faith can impact and influence their experiences of life. With this in mind, I offer a space where you can explore and dive deeper into your spiritual or faith-based journey without judgment.
