I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from LA County. I believe in developing/practicing coping strategies as well as providing psychoeducation to my clients to assist them in achieving their mental health goals. I pull from my previous training and certifications in Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy and parent-child interaction therapy, to assist my clients with their mental health. I have worked with children, adolescents, and families/caregivers to assist with decreasing symptoms and behaviors such as sadness, over-thinking, non-compliance, etc.
In the first couple of sessions, I go over the limits of confidentiality, discuss what therapy services usually entail, get an understanding of current coping skills, previous mental health services/history, and trauma history, and then discuss goal setting and symptoms/behaviors with the clients. I attempt to understand the goals of mental health services that the client is seeking to accomplish.
I believe in providing psychoeducation and sharing resources with my clients in order to best serve them in decreasing symptoms and behaviors.
I have experience working with children and adolescents as well as young adults between 18-21. I usually try to establish goal setting in the first few sessions, in which I get an understanding of where the client is, what symptoms and behaviors they wish to decrease, and where they hope to achieve in regards to their mental health in the next few months.
I was trained and certified in this type of treatment modality in 2021 and have since been using it to assist families and clients with decreasing disruptive behaviors, improving the parent/child interaction and teaching/modeling parenting skills with parents/caregivers to attempt to strengthen parent/child relationship.
I was trained and certified in TFCBT prior to 2021 and have used this modality to assist with decreasing trauma symptoms/behaviors in children/adolescents while working with parents/caregivers in teaching parenting skills to assist with decreasing symptoms/behaviors.
