LMFT, 8 years of experience
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing for seven years in a nationally recognized outpatient healthcare clinic. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Chapman University, I decided to change careers and pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Working for the clinic has provided an extraordinary learning environment and allowed me to benefit from collaboration with amazing clinicians who share my passion to help others.
During our first session, we will spend some time getting to know each other and explore the reasons why you are seeking therapy at this time. This will help create the stepping stones for a plan forward to help you reach your goals.
I am very fortunate to have experience with a diverse population not only clinically, but culturally and ethnically. My working environment has provided knowledge and insight into brain health, neurology, and psychiatric care which helps me to integrate biology, psychology, and personality. I use a whole person approach centered on the relationship between spirituality, culture, physical health, and mental well-being and work to provide a non-judgmental, safe environment. I view the therapy process as a sacred transaction and feel privileged to participate in the healing and growth of others who share with me their innermost hurts, problems, and questions about life.
I enjoy working with a wide range of clients including young adults, families, and couples from diverse backgrounds who struggle with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, and mood disorders. I also provide counseling to clients who face everyday challenges navigating life and need insight, guidance, and accountability in reaching their full potential.
In CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. In sessions, clients learn to recognize and reframe distorted thinking, engage in behavioral experiments to test beliefs, and practice new coping skills. Regular assessments track progress, empowering clients to develop effective strategies for managing challenges and promoting lasting positive change in their lives.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. In EMDR sessions, therapists guide clients to recall distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements. This process allows the brain to reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and enabling clients to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. Through phases of assessment, desensitization, installation of positive beliefs, and closure, EMDR therapists facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic memories, fostering emotional healing and resilience. I have worked with a diverse range of clients to address both big 'T' and little 't' traumas and am trained through EMDR Professional Training.
Eclectic therapy involves integrating various therapeutic approaches and techniques based on the individual needs of the client. As a clinician, I draw from different theoretical frameworks, such as cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, or behavioral approaches, to create a customized and flexible treatment plan. This approach allows me to tailor interventions to the unique circumstances of each client, optimizing the effectiveness of therapy by combining elements from different schools of thought. I enjoy working with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds and use a versatile and personalized approach to address a wide range of mental health issues.

My first session with Teri was great! I felt welcome and at ease from the very beginning. He was warm and authentic. From the first meeting, I can tell that he has the experience and the knowledge to handle the broad scope of issues that come up in therapy. I look forward to working with Teri. I think it'll be good.
