Hi! My name is Jamaya Clay and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in CA. I have been a therapist since 2019 and licensed since 2021. I have experience working with youth and adults providing individual therapy to help improve their functioning and achieve their own goals. I am passionate about supporting individuals to get through those life challenges in a healthy way.
The first session is typically different from the rest. I will ask a variety of questions to get an idea of what brought you to therapy and what you want to accomplish.
There are some foundation elements that I stand by which include trust, honesty and humor.
Decreasing depression symptoms, managing anxiety symptoms, supporting with navigating life transitions, stress management, personal growth and healthy coping strategies.
I use a combination of various treatment modalities within my sessions. Each client is different and I tailor each session address the needs of my clients. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how to changing our negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors to improve our mental health.
I use mindfulness with my clients because mindfulness is a powerful practice that helps us to focus in the present moment while being aware of how we are feelings and thinking without creating judgment.
I believe that clients have the power to change and improve their life. Solution Focused is a strength based treatment modality that helps clients to identify their goals and take action.
