My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

After serving as a Child Protective Services worker for six years in the county, I have investigated cases of abuse and neglect, intervened with parents, provided evidence to the court, and supported children by placing them with suitable caregivers. This experience has given me a profound understanding of the challenges faced by both children and parents. I am equipped to assist them in navigating the system and fostering the healthy development of children.

Narrative

As an African, storytelling is an integral part of our culture. Growing up, I developed a strong interest in storytelling, which allows me to respect my clients in a unique way. I focus on externalizing their issues, reframing the problems they face, and helping them discover new personal strengths to empower themselves.

Motivational Interviewing

In my meetings with clients, I frequently incorporate techniques from motivational interviewing, which are specifically designed to empower and inspire them toward making meaningful changes in their lives. I take the time to thoughtfully deconstruct any ambivalence they may have, creating a safe and understanding space where we can explore their feelings and motivations for change. This approach allows us to delve into their reasons for wanting to transform their behaviors or circumstances in a compassionate and supportive manner. By fostering an open dialogue, I help clients recognize their strengths and clarify their goals, ultimately guiding them on their journey toward personal growth.

Humanistic

My approach is centered around a holistic, client-led philosophy designed to empower individuals to discover and embrace their true potential. By fostering an environment of self-acceptance and heightened self-awareness, I aim to support clients in their personal growth journey. I prioritize active listening, offering empathy without judgment, and extending unconditional positive regard to each individual I work with. This nurturing space allows clients to express themselves freely and explore their thoughts and feelings, ultimately leading to transformative insights and self-discovery.
