New to Grow
Hi, I’m Marguerite. I am a holistic, somatic, and trauma informed therapist based in Los Angeles. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and identify as Black and Afro-Latina. Having lived in Guatemala, Spain, Costa Rica, Massachusetts, Michigan, and South Los Angeles, I bring a deep appreciation for the ways culture, identity, family systems, and social environments shape emotional well-being. My approach is anti-oppressive and trauma-informed. I am committed to creating an affirming and compassionate space where clients can explore the connection between their inner world and external experiences, including relationships, family dynamics, systemic stress, and the broader social and political climate. I believe therapy can support clients in feeling more grounded, empowered, and aligned in their lives. As a somatic therapist, I support clients in reconnecting with their bodies, developing emotional regulation skills, and strengthening self-trust. I often work with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. My goal is to walk alongside clients as they cultivate greater clarity, peace, and resilience through mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based decision making. Clients are the experts on their own lives. I see therapy as a collaborative process that honors each person’s lived experience, strengths, and capacity for growth. Outside of therapy, I am a professional singer and am forming a band this year. I enjoy being with friends, playing piano, attending dance classes, walking my dog, and listening to to the latest R&B, Beyonce and Cardi B songs.
In our first session, we begin with gentle somatic practices to help you feel grounded, present, and supported. Together we explore underlying concerns, barriers to change and patterns while building skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and communication. The goal is to help you feel safe, empowered, and supported in creating meaningful change.
What sets my therapeutic approach apart is my ability to be warm, compassionate, direct, empowering, and affirming while helping clients create meaningful change. I listen with intention and offer a supportive space where clients feel safe exploring their thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences. My approach is anti-oppressive and culturally responsive, recognizing how racism, discrimination, and systemic inequities impact mental health, and I do not shy away from conversations about identity, culture, and societal stressors when relevant to healing. I integrate DBT-informed skills, somatic practices, and trauma-focused approaches to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, self-awareness, and interpersonal effectiveness. I have extensive experience supporting children, families, and individuals healing from childhood trauma, abuse, and major life transitions. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and welcome clients who feel more comfortable expressing themselves across languages. As a musician and singer, I bring creativity into therapy, thoughtfully incorporating music, sound, and vocal grounding exercises for clients who find this supportive. I also provide practical skill-building and personalized exercises between sessions to help clients apply insights in daily life. My goal is to help clients feel empowered to make intentional choices, build resilience, and create lasting, meaningful change aligned with their values.
As a somatic and trauma-informed therapist in Los Angeles, I support clients from diverse backgrounds, BIPOC and immigrant clients navigating anxiety, racial stress, identity exploration, relationship issues, and life transitions. As an Afro-Latina therapist, I understand how systemic oppression, racism, and marginalization can impact emotional wellbeing, sense of safety, and internal beliefs about self-worth. I practice from an anti-oppressive lens, recognizing that therapy exists within larger social and political systems that shape daily lived experience. I am passionate about helping clients learn how to feel safe in their bodies while understanding the connection between trauma and systemic forms of oppression. I support clients experiencing PTSD, childhood trauma, and painful memories that continue to influence present relationships, self-esteem, and decision-making. My extensive work with children and families informs my ability to help adults gently process early experiences, challenge negative thought patterns, and build greater self-compassion. I help clients reconnect with their bodies, clarify core values, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop spiritual grounding and self-trust. I often work with individuals navigating dating, marriage, single parenthood, domestic Violence, major life transitions, career changes, and the emotional impact of the current social and political climate. I support clients who are seeking greater peace, clarity, and alignment in their lives, including those feeling called to make meaningful changes such as leaving unhealthy environments, redefining relationships, or creating a new vision for their future. My goal is to provide culturally responsive therapy that supports healing, empowerment, and liberation.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT in a DBT-informed framework to help clients clarify values, build psychological flexibility, and take meaningful responsibility for choices aligned with the life they want to create. I incorporate structured worksheets and mindfulness practices to support insight, behavior change, and long-term growth.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I provide DBT-informed therapy to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. I integrate structured worksheets and practical tools to support accountability, healthier coping, and more balanced relationships.
Somatic
I incorporate somatic and mindfulness-based practices to help clients feel safer in their bodies and regulate the nervous system. This approach supports clients in processing stress and trauma, increasing mind-body awareness, and developing grounding skills that promote stability, connection, and emotional resilience.
Trauma-Focused CBT
As a TF-CBT trained & certified therapist, I have successfully graduated several clients from the TF-CBT model. I use structured worksheets and evidence-based interventions to help clients process trauma, strengthen coping skills, and build a greater sense of safety, empowerment, and emotional understanding.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I provide culturally responsive therapy informed by extensive experience working with Afro-Latino and immigrant populations across Los Angeles County. As an Afro-Latina, bilingual Spanish-English therapist, I integrate awareness of cultural identity, systemic stressors, and lived experience to create an affirming space that supports healing, empowerment, and meaningful growth.
