New to Grow
Hi there :) Thanks for stopping by! I’m a Pakistani-Muslim therapist specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, with a deep commitment to care that is culturally attuned, liberatory, and rooted in honoring your lived experience. I've worked with clients who have experienced a spectrum of challenges and have created a safe space to hold those unique challenges and experiences without judgement or shame.
The first session is all about getting to know you. There’s no pressure to dive into the deep end right away. I’ll ask questions to better understand what’s bringing you to therapy, what’s been on your mind, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. Think of it as a conversation, not an interview. We’ll also spend time going over practical things like confidentiality, how I work, and what our sessions will generally look like. I want you to feel informed and comfortable with the process before we move forward. I do my best create a safe and affirming space for survivors of trauma, as well as LGBTQ+ clients. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you’d like. My job in that first session isn’t to fix anything. it’s to listen carefully and begin building a picture of your life, your strengths, and the challenges you’re facing. By the end, we’ll start to get a sense of what goals might guide our work together. First sessions can bring up a lot of feelings! Nervousness, relief, uncertainty, or all three at once. All of that is completely normal, and I’ll do my best to make the space feel safe and judgment-free from the moment you walk in.
What makes my work meaningful to me is that I show up as a full person in the therapy room, not just a clinician. I have a deep, personal understanding of what it means to navigate multiple identities that the world doesn’t always hold with care. That lived experience shapes how I work with clients who are trauma survivors, Muslim, LGBTQ+, or anyone carrying pain that feels impossible to put into words. People who have often spent years feeling like they had to leave parts of themselves at the door. In my practice, every part of you is welcome.
I understand what it means to grow up between cultures. Carrying the weight of expectations, navigating conflicting values, and protecting the parts of yourself that feel sacred, all while figuring out who you want to become. And doing that in a world that feels increasingly unstable makes it even harder to find solid ground. I hold space for that too. So many of us carry stories that were never fully heard. My goal is to offer a space where you can exhale, where you are respected, and where healing doesn’t require you to leave any part of yourself behind. Especially at the intersections of culture, faith, family, and personal growth. I am EMDR certified and can offer evidence‑based trauma treatment that supports the mind, body, and spirit. My spiritual lens is not about prescribing belief, but about honoring the ways spirituality, intuition, and your experiences can support healing. I’m LGBTQ+ affirming and offer everyone a place to heal. If any of this speaks to you, let’s talk!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we can examine patterns of thinking that may be contributing to distress and practice replacing them with more balanced, helpful perspectives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT is at the heart of how I help clients build a life that feels worth living, even in the midst of intense emotions. I draw and DBT's core skills sets to help clients navigate crisis moments and build long-term stability. This approach is especially valuable for clients who feel like their emotions are in the driver's seat.
EMDR
I incorporate EMDR into my treatment with clients to help them process painful memories that continue to impact their present-day functioning. Rather than talking through trauma in detail, EMDR works by engaging the brain's natural healing processes, allowing distressing experiences to be stored in a healthier way. Many clients find that memories that once felt overwhelming begin to lose their emotional charge.
Trauma Informed Care
Everything I do in the therapy room is grounded in a trauma-informed, liberatory lens, which means I prioritize safety, trust, and client autonomy above all else. I understand that many presenting concerns such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, etc. are often rooted in past experiences of harm or instability. My goals is to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen and in control of their own healing process.
