(she/her)
I have 20 years of experience working at a hospice serving patients and their families. I also have experience treating people with mental illness and substance abuse. I have run virtual community grief groups that are accessible and affordable. I enjoy working with people of all ages and steer my work from a place of compassion and with a genuine interest in your situation, striving for you to feel more in control of your path in life with growth towards greater happiness.
In our first session, we will get to know each other. I will tell you a little bit about me, professionally, and then do an assessment hearing about what brings you to see me, and develop a care plan for the time that we work together.
I have a long track record of building strong therapeutic relationships with my clients, in supporting them to a more fulfilling life, and helping them through their grief journey.
I serve people of all ages who have experienced a loss and feel that they need someone to talk to who can support them with strategies for coping, education around the grieving process, and provide hope for finding meaning in the world again. I work with individuals and families. I work with all religions and gender identities. Everyone who experiences grief feels their grief is the worst because it is theirs, and we use that as a springboard to the work we do together.
Grief Therapy
20-year career working with grief as a private therapist and social worker for a hospice. I support individuals in navigating the emotional, psychological, and physical effects of grief. This includes not only the death of someone close to you, but the loss of a relationship, pet loss, serious illness, the loss of a job, or any other event that can create feelings of grief. I support people with new grief and also with complicated, persistent grief that has lasted for over a year. I provide education on what to expect with grief and how it is not linear. I provide emotional support around the grieving process and strategies for coping based on individual coping strategies, religion, and cultural beliefs. I support clients in understanding the difference between grief and depression and how to move forward to have meaning and purpose in life
Group Therapy
10-year career facilitating grief groups to support individuals with grief in a group setting as a mechanism for emotional validation, coping skills, peer modeling, structure around grief process, and validation around the grief experience.
