Hey there, I'm Veronika Hoover, LCSW. The foundation of my practice is around getting our mind and our spirit back into our heart and our body and going from there. One of my prior clients told me, "Thank you for walking with me in the dark, and not being afraid of what we will find." Shining a light where darkness once was is a hard thing to do, but when done in a safe place and with support, my hope is that you learn that you are truly worthy of shining brightly and being seen exactly how you are (and falling in love with yourself). My question is: what stops us from doing that?

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session, is a getting to know you session. I want to know what brought you here and what your hopes are for therapy. This will help us create your goals and decide how frequent you can attend sessions. Ill review the paperwork you filled out and if I have any questions, I will bring them up as well. Since I offer interventions that are non-conventional (ie. mindfulness training, nature therapy, spiritual integration, and energy therapy), Ill ask what your experiences and beliefs are related to those themes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I worked in a mental health setting for 10 years before exploring alternative forms of therapy, for myself and my clients. I currently run an alternative Forest School for homeschooled children in an outdoor setting, where the parents participate in their own nature related activities. It brings us all so much joy and healing outside of the therapeutic context. I am reminded of the cycles of life: birth, growth, and death... creation and destruction... the fragility and resilience of being alive. As a therapist, I come back to each of my sessions with a humble and renewed view of life and wellbeing, so I can be a guide to support exploring your inner landscapes and outer views. I continue to learn new holistic forms of therapy that extend beyond talk therapy and participate in communities where we are all seeing the benefits of an integrative approach to wellness.

My treatment methods

Mind-body approach

After having focused on cognitive behavioral therapy, I found that deeper, integrative approaches to mental health and wellbeing need to include the body and the environment. It's not just what we think but also tuning in to what our body feels and remembers.
