I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

Hi, I’m Dr. Kristen Montiel. If you’re here, chances are something in your relationship, or within yourself, feels harder than it should. You might be: -Overthinking, anxious, or needing reassurance in relationships - Feeling disconnected from your partner, even when things seem to be going okay -Trying to repair after a betrayal or affair and unsure how to move forward - You are a high-achieving, self-aware person who’s frustrated that insight hasn’t led to change yet I specialize in working with high-achieving individuals and couples, including those navigating affair recovery, parenthood, anxiety, and relationship disconnection. I know searching for a therapist can be a daunting process but I'm so glad you're here! With over 15 years of experience and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, I help clients understand the deeper patterns driving their experiences and how to actually change them. PLEASE NOTE: I specialize in Gerontology. I believe in empowering older adults by fostering independence, resilience and sense of identity. Aging is a journey that should be met with dignity, respect, and opportunities for growth. By actively listening, providing tailored support, and encouraging self-determination, I can help older adults maintain their autonomy and confidence. Resilience is nurtured through meaningful connections, purposeful activities, and a focus on strengths rather than limitations. I am committed to honoring an individual's experiences, celebrating their uniqueness, and creating environments where people feel valued and capable. I challenge stereotypes about aging and promote a vision of later life filled with possibility and fulfillment.

I offer a space where your pain can soften, your story can unfold gently, and you can be met with warmth and compassion without judgment. I draw from CBT, TF-CBT, MI, mindfulness, and person-centered, holistic practices — not as rigid techniques, but as tools we weave into the moments when you need grounding, clarity, or a way to steady yourself. Over time, your voice gets stronger. Your patterns make more sense. And the parts of you that learned to survive begin to feel safe enough to soften.

If you're considering therapy, chances are you're carrying something that feels heavy, and you're looking for someone who can help you make sense of it. Change requires courage, self-awareness, and a willingness to try something different - when people are motivated and can learn healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking/feeling, meaningful growth is possible. As a therapist, I am warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I strive to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, even when you're talking about the parts of your life that feel messy, painful, or difficult to understand. Clients often tell me they appreciate my sense of humor, my kindness, and my ability to challenge them in a way that feels supportive rather than confrontational. I believe therapy doesn't have to feel cold or clinical. Some of our work may be serious, but I also believe healing can happen in moments of connection, insight, and even laughter. My role is not to tell you what to do or who to be. Instead, I work alongside you to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical tools for change, and help you move toward the life you want to create. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-worth, or navigating a difficult season of life, I will meet you where you are and support you in taking the next step forward.

I run Unscripted Therapy, a practice focused on helping people break out of stuck patters. I work with individuals who are tired of having the same conversations and somehow ending up right back where they started. Whether it’s anxiety, stress, or relationship patterns that keep repeating, something isn’t working—and at this point, that’s pretty clear. My approach is direct, collaborative, and focused on actually changing what’s not working. I’m not going to just sit there nodding while you vent and then ask how that made you feel for the tenth time. We’ll figure out what’s keeping you stuck and start doing something different about it. Therapy with me is honest, practical, and yes—sometimes a little blunt. But it’s also real. If you’re looking for something that actually helps you move forward (not just talk about why you’re stuck), we’ll probably be a good fit. Please note: Insurance is accepted for individual therapy only. Couples and family therapy are private pay and are not billed through insurance.

I am in my second marriage for 30 years now, after my 24-year first marriage failed. We have seven children between the two of us, 31 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. I have had good success counseling couples who have given up on their relationship, especially those who have experienced infidelity. I don't counsel children until they are 18. I enjoy helping people understand how they became the way they are and therefore find ways to leave dysfunction behind.

My work often focuses on anxiety, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, self-esteem, boundaries, and major life transitions. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to each person’s needs and goals, drawing from approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional flexibility, resilience, and confidence while creating meaningful and sustainable change. Many people come to therapy feeling exhausted—not because they're weak, but because they've spent years taking care of everyone else while losing touch with themselves. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship challenges, family stress, or repeating the same painful patterns, therapy can help you understand not only what is happening, but why it keeps happening. With more than 20 years of experience, I help adults gain clarity, recognize the patterns influencing their lives, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I believe insight is important, but lasting change happens when insight is paired with meaningful action. Together, we'll explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, identify what's keeping you stuck, and develop skills that help you move forward with greater confidence, stronger boundaries, and relationships that feel more authentic and fulfilling.

I provide a warm and genuine atmosphere and understand that “one size does not fit all." I'll do my best to meet you where you are and really get to know you and your specific concerns. I treat the whole person to maximize growth. Do you feel like your 'fight-or-flight' response is stuck on high? I specialize in helping clients understand the unique wiring of ADHD, depressed, and anxious brains. By exploring the science of why you feel so restless, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, we can separate your worth from your symptoms. My goal is to help you stop fighting your brain and start working with it, using evidence-based techniques that actually click for your unique mind. Therapy shouldn't be another place where you have to perform. In our sessions, fidgeting is encouraged, eye contact is optional, and your unique way of processing the world is celebrated, not 'fixed.' I provide a warm, non-judgmental space for adults with ADHD and anxiety to unmask and find balance. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths to help you navigate a world that wasn't exactly built for minds like yours. If you're tired of feeling like your brain is a browser with 50 tabs open, you’re in the right place. I help individuals with ADHD, PTSD, depression and anxiety and more move from 'overwhelmed' to 'organized' by building practical toolkits for time management and focus. We won't just talk about your challenges, we'll actively troubleshoot the obstacles keeping you stuck so you can feel more in control of your day-to-day life.

My name is Jeffrey Yeom, and I'm a 1.5-generation Korean-American therapist. I believe one of our deepest human needs is to understand and to be understood. That's why I do this work: to help you realize you don't have to navigate life alone. My practice centers on decolonizing mental health, which means freeing you from values imposed by dominant culture so you can reconnect with what truly matters to you. I take time to learn your background, identity, and cultural world, then weave that understanding into rituals, traditions, and self-care practices that honor who you are. Together, we'll explore the emotions that point toward your truest values and gently rewrite patterns that no longer serve you. I work from an emotion-focused, attachment-based, and psychodynamic approach. In my sessions, I invite you to show up exactly as you are. We'll explore the relationships and experiences that have shaped you with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment. If you're looking for a space where your whole story can belong, I hope you reach out. Many of my clients carry stories shaped by migration, acculturation, or family expectations. You're not alone in navigating these.

Maybe you’ve done a lot of thinking about yourself or your relationships, but still find yourself falling into the same patterns, or feeling stuck in places you can’t quite explain. Maybe you’re tired of overthinking, second-guessing yourself, or trying to hold everything together on your own. I work with individuals and couples who want to understand themselves more deeply, heal what’s keeping them stuck, and feel more connected to themselves and the people they love. My approach is warm, relational, and rooted in attachment. I believe therapy isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about getting curious about the patterns you’ve developed, understanding why certain things feel so difficult, and making sense of the experiences that shaped you. Together, we’ll explore what’s underneath the ways you think, feel, and relate to others, so you can move through your life with more clarity, self-trust, and freedom.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
