Hi! I am so glad that you are reaching out for therapy! My name is Melissa. I am a Licensed Professional Clincal Counselor (LPCC) in CA. I have been in this field since 2019. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling as well as a Master's Degree in Psychology. As a therapist, my role is to support those who feel lost, overwhelmed, or uncertain, helping them find clarity and healing. Everyone struggles at some point in life, and you don’t have to face it alone—compassionate guidance can make all the difference.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I specialize in working with adults navigating life transitions, experiencing loss or grief (beyond just death), managing anxiety or depression, or feeling uncertain about how to cope with their current challenges. Many clients come to me feeling stuck or unsure of their next steps, but they are open to exploring new approaches and believe in their ability to learn and grow through the therapeutic process. I deeply enjoy helping clients navigate their struggles, offering support as they develop new skills and gain confidence, while reassuring them that it’s okay to struggle and that healing is a journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a clinical provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to facilitate meaningful and lasting change for clients from diverse backgrounds. Through proven results, I have had the privilege of seeing clients transition from struggling with daily, crippling depression to leading lives that feel stable and fulfilling. I excel at providing a balance of challenge and support, gently guiding clients through their difficulties while encouraging them to confront and overcome their obstacles. My approach is grounded in compassion and tailored to each individual, ensuring that clients feel both understood and empowered. With a deep commitment to helping clients achieve their goals, I consistently foster positive, transformative outcomes in my practice.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults who are struggling with life transitions, experience loss or grief in any way (not just death!), have trouble with anxiety or depression, or simply just aren't sure how to cope with what is going on their lives at the moment. They often feel stuck, lost, or uncertain of where to go or what to do next, but believe that they have the ability to learn something new and are willing to try different techniques.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and increasing mindfulness in daily life. DBT combines acceptance and change strategies, allowing clients to navigate challenges with greater balance and resilience. Through techniques such as distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness, I support clients in building a more fulfilling and stable life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress and problematic behaviors. Through a collaborative approach, we work together to develop practical strategies that promote healthier thinking, emotional regulation, and positive actions. CBT is goal-oriented and evidence-based, empowering clients to build lasting skills for managing challenges and improving overall well-being.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients explore and transform their emotional experiences, strengthening their connections with themselves and others. EFT is based on the understanding that emotions are central to our well-being and relationships. By identifying emotional patterns and deepening emotional awareness, clients can break free from negative cycles, heal past wounds, and build more secure and meaningful relationships.

Grief Therapy

I use grief therapy to support clients as they navigate the complex emotions that come with loss. Grief is a deeply personal experience, and I provide a compassionate space for clients to process their feelings, find meaning in their loss, and gradually adjust to life without their loved one. Through a combination of emotional expression, coping strategies, and meaning-making, I help clients honor their grief while finding a path toward healing and renewed purpose.

Psychodynamic

I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients gain deeper insight into how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence their present thoughts, emotions, and relationships. By exploring early life experiences, defense mechanisms, and recurring themes, clients can develop greater self-awareness and emotional freedom. This approach fosters long-term personal growth, helping individuals break free from unhelpful cycles and create meaningful change in their lives.
