I am an older woman, who simply grew up confused within most of my own life. Things in my family were hard, and there seemed to be nobody who had any answers, so I grew up trying to figure things out, and I did not always do a great job. I now do a much better job in my own life, and here to help others with figuring out their own life paths, choices, anxieties/depressions/etc. My struggles eventually lead me to this role, as a therapist, a counselor, teacher, guide, support for the many others who are having a hard time figuring "it" out. I use a direct, honest, root-digging approach that seeks to heal at the core, allowing for release of attachments and agreements made long ago - many of these lead to feelings/thoughts/behaviors within shame, guilt, feelings of being a burden or just not good enough, codependency, anger, anxieties, depressions, people-pleasing - simply to just survive the day.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will include an explanations of policies, HIPPA , late cancel and no-shows, as well as a Biopsychosocial Assessment of you, to help me get to know you, your goals, and some of your story. Our sessions moving forward you will begin to learn mindfulness, understand the brain and bodies reactions to stressors, the various stages of development from pre-birth to the present, and all the stuff in between. Your story will be the center of the work, as you work to overcome unhelpful Narratives that no longer serve a purpose for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths include my being older, my long-sought knowledge throughout my life, definitely my sense of humor which I use as we Interweave difficult topics, and my creative brain that seeks new solutions for old problems. I sit alongside you, cry or laugh, or just simply talk. Providing new ways of thinking, shifting perspectives, and having grown up in my own cultures helps me to better understand yours.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Have you had therapy before? Did you find it helpful? I hope so. But maybe you are now seeking something a little different, a different approach, one that meets you in the middle, out in front, on the sidelines, where ever you need it to be. Often times, life simply gets overwhelming or confusing or worrisome, or maybe just hard to figure out, and we need some advice, a guiding hand, a new approach to old pathways. Maybe you don't even know what you are looking for in a therapist, don't know what to expect, or maybe just nervous. It's okay. Everybody experiences these emotions, and we all struggle with life at times, and simply need a safe and trusting place to go for help. I am here to help everyone and anyone. My approach works very women over the age of 40 who feel stuck. Women under 40 are well-served as I work to help you also learn to find yourself in your young adulthood areas of love and life. Men of all ages are welcome, as well. New approaches can sometimes cause us to avoid, but avoidance is what has you here in the first place. Am I right? We all avoid when we don't know the answers. Anybody seeking the answers for their own lives will find an open ear, a guiding spirit, and a chatty teacher in me.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

focus on the thoughts and feelings developed around unsettling moments in life that get stuck. By processing and moving them to truths, clearing happens in Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

You are You, based on Your Culture, your teachings, your families, and the lessons you took in during your life. While all cultures are similar, they are not the same. Yours was learned in your family, your neighborhood, your cultural learnings and traditions. This is important to Understanding, Knowing, and Healing You. I seek to understand all.

EMDR

This approach is simply being called a "miracle therapy" by many, and it really does work wonders. Once we dig up some roots, and get into the stages of development, EMDR is a wonderful tool I use to lift whatever is stuck, and just simply move it out of you. Old thoughts, feelings, guilts, shames, things that seem to weigh you down. EMDR works to help shift, lift, and replace.

Eclectic

Eclectic just simply means I use a wide variety of methods, including CBT, CPT, Emotionally --Focused, EMDR, Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic, Attachment-Based, Faith-based and/or Spiritual, Feminist, Humanistic, Trauma-Focused (big and small), Internal Family Systems, Mind-Body Approach, Mindfulness, Breathwork, Multicultural, Narrative Focused, Stages of Psychosocial Development, Polyvagal, Holistic ~ All-Around Client Focused on healing past issues which interfere with current well-being - and Incorporate EMDR when the time is right.
