I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who believes that healing happens best in a space where you feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. I don’t come to this work believing that life is easy or that growth happens without struggle—I’ve been through hard times myself, and those experiences shape the way I show up for my clients: with empathy, humility, and respect for how tough life can be. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based care. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed practices to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building practical skills for everyday life. I work at your pace, honoring your story and your strengths, not just your symptoms. I work with individuals, teens, and families experiencing emotional distress related to eating disorders, trauma, grief and loss, addiction, suicidal thoughts, relationship challenges, and family disturbances. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, I aim to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and find steadier ground. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you reconnect with your resilience, learn new ways to cope, and create a life that feels more balanced, authentic, and aligned with who you are. You don’t have to do this alone—I’d be honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey.

Hola! I'm Gustavo Olvera and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), serving clients via telehealth throughout the State of California. My long-time approach to therapy is to meet the client where they are and work with them to identify goals that will help them improve their quality of life while providing them with a safe place to be themselves in a safe environment. I believe that we all have the potential to succeed in life and the potential to achieve greatness. A healthy mind is key to success, as we often have to make critical decisions daily. I believe we can all achieve our desired goals by increasing and maintaining a positive outlook on our mental health. What attracted me to wanting to become a therapist was my true and honest desire to help others. Seeing how clients benefit from therapy, seeing how clients can truly overcome their mental illness, and seeing how clients can return to normal and healthy day-to-day living is what drives me to continue to do the work that I do. Today I invite you, to allow yourself to start your journey to a better tomorrow; I am inviting you to take a chance. Sadly we can't change what happened yesterday, nor do we know what will happen tomorrow, but we can hope for a better tomorrow by making positive decisions today.

Hi! I'm Dr. Chelsea Acker, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise working with children and adolescents. I'm experienced with a range of concerns, but I have specialized training in treating trauma, suicidality, and early psychosis. In 2019, I graduated from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where I trained at the Stanford School of Medicine's psychiatry department and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital's program at a local high school. I attended internship (our version of residency, more or less) at the UC Davis Medical Center, where I received world-class training in the treatment of childhood trauma and early psychosis, both separately and together. I then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Chicago Child Trauma Center, where I continued to build my expertise in the treatment of childhood trauma. After that, I worked at Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, for two and a half years, where I specialized in working with children and adolescents with complex, persistent symptom presentations, who had often been hospitalized multiple times for safety concerns and struggled to make progress with previous therapists.

You may be coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or worn down by patterns that keep repeating in your life or relationships—or by a situation that has disrupted your sense of stability. You might be navigating a loss, a major transition, or ongoing pressure that has left you depleted. Your body and emotions may be holding more than words alone can explain. I offer a relational, trauma-informed space where we can slow down together and create more choice in otherwise habitual patterns of responding. Over time, many people feel more at ease in their bodies, clearer about their needs, and more confident in how they relate to others and themselves.

Hi! First, I want to thank you for visiting my page and giving me an opportunity to see how my therapeutic style can assist you with reducing your distress and increasing your life satisfaction. I am so honored that you have decided to review my profile and see if I am a good fit for your journey. I have been working as a therapist with a variety of mental health disorders and systemic family dynamics since 2015. I initially pursued a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and decided that was an unfulfilling career direction for me. Upon deciding to pursue a master’s degree, I decided to pursue the MFT field. Becoming and MFT was the career goal I had as a teenager, so you could say that pursuing the field is a lifelong dream come true. My methods of therapy are person led. I like to provide space, and safety to assist you with addressing the reasons you made the brave choice to pursue therapy. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). It is a gentle, evidenced based method that uses mindfulness and increases coping skills to assist with achieving therapeutic goals. Additionally, I utilize the technique of Brainspotting that assists with deeper, difficult to resolve trauma. I am LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. I work with clients who are questioning, in their transition process, as well as those who are working on their mental health unrelated to their sexual and gender orientation. If necessary, I can consult with you if you need me to provide gender affirming letters when required for insurance and surgical and hormonal procedures. I really appreciate the time that you took to read through all this information, and I hope that it helps you make an informed decision.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. As your therapist I will support you in building the skills you need to navigate everyday life stressors. I have years of experience working in the areas of anxiety, trauma, suicidality, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorder, and relationship issues. I also have had the opportunity to work in diverse settings both inpatient and outpatient programs, long and short term, and with various populations of different cultural, ethnic, sexual orientations, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I am a strong believer in providing a safe space for everyone. It can be difficult at times to find openness and support and I am happy to help with those challenges. It is important to develop a safe non-judgmental space to help build a better trusting relationship to help guide you and learn ways to live with more joy and fulfillment in your life. It is not easy to reach out and ask for help. It is incredibly difficult for so many people to seek the care they need. You are already taking one of the most important steps and allowing yourself to make your self-care a priority. This process can be both confusing and overwhelming, but I am looking forward to working collaboratively with you on this journey.

Hi there! My name is Chelsea and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. In the past, I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients of all ages and backgrounds. I believe my communication style is calm and gentle, while still being direct. I do my best to provide a nonjudgmental space wherein the clients I work with can feel comfortable sharing their concerns. I will also challenge clients when appropriate, to allow them to develop insight into ways they can change their thoughts or behaviors in a way that would be helpful for them. My goal is to empower clients to reach their goals, so they can learn tools and techniques to help them better build upon their strengths and manage mental health symptoms. Eventually, my hope is for all of my clients to feel they are in a place where they can manage symptoms and life stressors on their own, through utilizing the skills they've learned throughout therapy. But until that time, I aim to help my clients learn how to change maladaptive patterns of behavior, and learn ways of helping their selves manage the challenges they are facing.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) committed to supporting clients in their healing journeys. I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC). My additional credentials—Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider (C-PD), Certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT), Certified Mood Disorder Professional (CMDP), and ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP)—enable me to guide individuals in understanding the roots of emotional pain and build resilience. I grew up in an environment with people who never discussed mental health; this sparked an early interest in the unspoken challenges I observed. As a dual major in psychology and sociology, my coursework was impactful, and the lessons carried over into graduate school, where I earned dual master's degrees in social work and public administration. I completed internships at a domestic abuse shelter, a short-term residential crisis center, a community behavioral health services facility, and took specialized trauma-informed care courses, as well as other research areas in the field. My professional experience includes work at a non-profit organization supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, serving as a psychotherapist and behavioral specialist for children with autism, ADHD, and adjustment challenges, and supervising social workers at county behavioral health agencies. I have also managed case management teams of social workers and nurses assisting individuals with catastrophic illnesses, and led project teams of case investigators, contact tracers, data analysts, and public health nurses in response to infectious disease outbreaks. I remain deeply passionate about helping clients in their healing from mental injuries and mental challenges; providing support in this area has proven to be crucial, as it can affect every facet of human existence.

Hi, I'm Celina. As a second-generation Latina, I bring an informed perspective to the challenges many communities of color face, including the impact of systemic inequities, identity struggles, and cultural barriers. I also know that everyone—no matter their background—can experience moments in life that feel overwhelming. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of past trauma, or maybe the stress of everyday life feels like too much. The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for support is not always easy, but it’s a powerful and courageous step toward healing and growth. For years, I’ve dedicated myself to serving my community in a variety of settings, from community clinics to crisis counseling. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+, as well as with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and other life transitions. My work as a 911 crisis counselor especially taught me the importance of holding space during life’s most difficult moments. I believe that everyone's story matters and I’m here to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and heal. Together, we can build insight, break patterns, and create new paths forward. My goal is to walk beside you on your journey toward wellness so that when you leave, you feel empowered, grounded, and ready for what's ahead.

Hi! I’m Allyson and I’m looking forward to hopefully meeting with you. Have you been struggling or just wanting some extra support and a place you can turn to in order to let it all out? Have you found yourself stressed out or feeling overwhelmed easily? Are you struggling to understand your emotions or what is happening in your relationships? I hope I can help you with those issues and so much more! I work with you to understand how you are feeling and thinking about situations and help you practice a focus on your long-term goals to get through life’s ups and downs. I take an integrative approach and work to meet you where you are and personalize treatment to meet your strengths and needs. I bring in evidence-based interventions and techniques as well as creative and artistic elements. I’ve received training in several modalities including DBT, CBT, EMDR and ABFT. I’ve found that using both sides of your brain can strengthen the positive changes and success rates for reaching your goals. Taking steps to heal yourself and that time for yourself can be scary. It can be challenging to work with someone new and/or to give it a try again. You’re making the right choice, and you deserve this opportunity. You deserve a safe space, you deserve to heal, you deserve to reach your fullest potential in life. Let’s work together to help you reach the best version of yourself!

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Suicidal Ideation?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Suicidal Ideation, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
