(he/him)
Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm so glad you stopped by to consider services with me. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy with a focus on understanding and helping you individually. Since 2010 I have provided therapy to address a wide range of issues from difficult recent adjustments to long-term, chronic issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, men's issues, substance use, and ADHD. I like to work collaboratively to find what works best for each person. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you really feel understood. I have a goal-oriented approach that offers tools, skills for coping, and clear, achievable objectives.
The first session is mainly about connecting and getting to know each other, not “fixing everything.” I’ll be gathering background information, understanding what’s bringing you in, and seeing if we're well matched for therapy.
I think my biggest strengths are my wide variety of experiences and my focused curiosity. I have lived and worked in a variety of settings with several different racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and religious groups. I love getting to know my clients and coming to understand their unique qualities and needs. It is wonderful to collaborate with clients to discover their resilience and hope.
My ideal clients are those whose needs align with my expertise and who feel ready to engage collaboratively, even if they’re nervous or somewhat ambivalent.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach to CBT grounded in the present moment to help individuals identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors with more constructive ones. This includes therapy sessions, homework, and referrals to appropriate resources.
