Although I have a passion for providing human services, my specialty is youth and adolescent mental health. I acquire exceptional clinical skills, training and knowledge at treating and supporting teens and their parents with navigating the task of adolescent developmental milestones. Oftentimes, many adolescents are faced with developmental milestones as trying to establish their identity, autonomy and sense of belonging. At the same time, they are seeking a healthy balance between the forces of differentiation and separation while trying to maintain a healthy attachment to their secure base. Each adolescent experiences navigating these developmental tasks in various context that is unique to their own growing personality. During this developmental milestone, for some parents the task can be daunting and challenging. Those challenges can look like: parenting/boundaries problems, School/academia problems, social/romantic relational problems, parent/peer conflict, negative peer influence, ADHD, Conduct Disorder, ODD, depression, self-harm, SI, LGBTQ+ identity, teen substance use, bullying, gaming/social media disorder, Etc. I can support you through these challenges and milestones.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have extensive training and experience using Attachment Base Family Therapy. I've spent years utilizing this treatment model as a Primary Therapist in Residential Treatment Programs for adolescents boys and girls. In my experience, I have observed families and individuals experienced successful therapy outcomes using this method and they've gone on to have healthier relationships. I apply this model in my practice by Identifying the client attachment style and attachment ruptures while assessing and assisting the client with repairing those ruptures. My approach is gaining an understanding and insight into the content and context of the family's dynamic by assessing the presenting problem while exploring the underlying causation of the attachment rupture and symptoms. I aim to help the client to shift the attachment theme and narrative. I assist the patient in exploring consequences of their attachment ruptures in relationships while eliciting and amplifying a desire for a healthier self relationship as the goal of therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive training and experience using CBT in my 11 plus years of providing psychotherapy. I assist clients with assessing how their thoughts ultimately impact their feelings that ultimately become their behaviors that ultimately becomes habit forming. My goal is to help raise the client awareness through insight and identification in order to recognize unhealthy thinking and behavioral patterns. Catch the thought, assess the thoughts, and challenge the thought for facts, evidence and accuracy. This approach helps to reduce the individual problematic, cognitive rumination. This method can ultimately change the individual unhealthy behavioral. patterns to help the individual move towards being a healthier self.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have extensive training and experience using CBT in my 11 plus years of providing psychotherapy. I utilize DBT particularly to provide skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships, depression, substance use, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, SI-to curb self-destructive impulses of chronic self harm, suicidal patients, and borderline personality disorder. I assist the client with using the four components of implementing DBT: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Mind-body approach

I believe in nurturing your well-being from the inside out. Holistic therapies is understanding that the mind, body and soul are not separate. Individuals can experience self healing through improved physical health, reduced stress and anxiety, increase nutrition, energy, mental clarity, work life balance and a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.

Strength-Based

I have extensive training and experience using a Strength Base model. In my 11+ years of providing psychotherapy, I can Identify internal-external strengths and talents while assisting the client at building confidence and self-esteem. I aim to assist the client with focusing on those strengths as a resourceful trait, rather than focusing on the individual challenges, failure or shortcomings. This shift of cognition, focus and reframing and sets up a positive mindset that helps the client to build on their best qualities. The client can experience strength improvement, resiliency while changing their worldviews to one that is a more positive. My hope is to discuss the patient’s problems collaboratively to discover their inner strengths.
