Do you feel like nothing you do is ever right or that you have to put yourself last to make sure everyone else in your life is taken care of? Maybe you’ve been struggling with self-criticism or setting appropriate boundaries, either with yourself or with others. Life is hard enough without us getting in our own way. You deserve to live a life that is in line with your values or priorities; a life filled with joy and success, however, you want to define it. I help people see their potential and to use their strengths to make changes in their lives. I also help people learn to live in the present moment and to find peace in the current situations they find themselves in. I work with older teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, eating disorders, assertiveness/boundary setting, self-criticism, and family/relationship conflicts. I use a blend of many different therapy approaches; my focus is on finding what works for you. I only see clients over video so that therapy can happen around your busy life and in a place where you feel comfortable. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I graduated with my master’s degree in social work in 2016. I also hold bachelor's degrees in psychology and multicultural queer studies. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing board games with friends, and watching the waves at the beach near my home.

Hello, my name is Bryan Llorente, I am a licensed clinical social worker and have experience working in several clinical and therapeutic settings. I have also worked for Orlando Health at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies covering the ED/Triage, antepartum and postpartum units of the hospital. This position gave me experience with providing crisis interventions and psychotherapeutic counseling to patient's who have a history of severe mental health issues, or who are actively experiencing medical emergencies, traumatic events, domestic violence, manic/depressive episodes, psychotic episodes, and suicidal ideations. In addition, I provided education on post partum depression and child care. In 2021 I began teaching classes as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Central Florida's College of Health Professions and Sciences. I feel well equipped to help my clients deal with a variety of issues, whether in person, or online. I take an objective and collaborative approach to understanding problems, and work with clients to create strategies to address problems head on so that clients learn the skills necessary to achieve their goals.

All things are interconnected. To feel better, you have to act better. To feel better, you have to think better. To think better, you have to feel better. To act better, you have to think better. To think, feel, and act better, you have to care for your physical health. To care for your physical health, you have to think, feel, and act better. Each has a corresponding effect on the other. However, the aspect of ourselves that we have the most direct control of is what we do, our acting. While we can influence other people, we cannot control other people. A great source of conflict and unhappiness results from our efforts to control others. If you want better relationships, the only thing we can control is what we do, how we choose to relate. We are responsible for what we do. Others are responsible for what they do. Accepting this fundamental reality and thinking, feeling, and acting in accordance with it is how we increase our experience of power, freedom, belonging, meaning and, very importantly, fun. My professional experience includes over 30 years of post-Master’s clinical work, including leadership experience in foster care, chemical abuse and addiction, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and crisis intervention, de-escalation, and hospitalization. I am experienced in working with ages three through the elderly. I have worked extensively with youth and families, diverse populations and life issues, providing services in various settings, including family homes, schools, juvenile detention facilities, jails, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric facilities.

Whole-Hearted Therapy Centered on Genuine Connection. Ever had therapy that feels like it drags on without any results? Research shows the Power of Connection drives roughly 60% of Therapeutic Success. My Compassionate Therapy Style focuses on Building Bridges of Trust and cultivating a meaningful connection with positive outcomes. So, how do you find the best therapist for you? That's a great question. And it's one that most people struggle with answering whether it's their first or umpteenth search. Is it the therapist him/herself, their personality, theoretical approach, or specialty? While all these factors are important, it shouldn't be your responsibility to find the best clinician; rather it's the clinician's responsibility to become the best therapist for you. I also have a particular interest in using holistic practices to help create great results for depression & anxiety disorders as well as trauma/PTSD and other mental/behavioral conditions. These include EFT Tapping, breathing/mindfulness/meditation, and Amino Acids, etc. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Addiction Counselor with nearly nine years of extensive professional experience in both mental health and addiction. Further, I have a personal background in overcoming addictions as well as several mental health and learning disabilities. Whether you're seeking help to overcome addiction, mental health conditions or career counseling, I've dedicated my professional life to becoming YOUR BEST clinician. Transform Your Mental Health Story: Break Free from disheartening therapy experiences with my Empathetic Approach. Ready for a change? Let’s connect for a video conference consultation. *I only work with individuals, no couples, no minors (under 18)* Trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, I am available to help clients navigate trauma, anxiety, relational issues, communication skills, depression, and stress management . As a first generation Eritrean American born and raised in the Bay Area, I struggled with a sense of belonging throughout my adolescence, often straddling the line between multiple identities and insecurities surrounding the idea of not being “American enough" and not being “African enough.” Early on in college, I took a psychology class that helped me further understand the human condition and its applications in my own life. I learned transformative concepts in terms of moods, relationships, and behaviors, prompting me to further pursue the field of psychology. Since then, I have taken it upon myself to get advanced training in various therapeutic approaches, which I believe help clients get the most out of their therapy experience.

Starting therapy can feel empowering, confusing, or even intimidating—and it’s worth taking a moment to recognize the courage it takes to take this first step toward caring for your mental health. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where you can explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-care, and more. My goal is to help you strengthen communication and boundaries with yourself and others so that you can improve your quality of life and move toward the future you envision. Therapy is not just about overcoming obstacles—it’s also about personal growth. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and identify strategies to help you move toward them, whether that means change over the next month, six months, or a year. You’ll leave our sessions with practical insights and “next steps” you can put into action right away. I believe life’s purpose isn’t simply to be happy, but to find meaning—and within that meaning, joy emerges. While the journey isn’t always easy, it can be transformative. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Professional, Internationally Certified Drug Counselor, and Behavior Analyst. I take a strength-based approach, helping you use your unique abilities to address challenges. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to empower you in creating lasting change. Most importantly, I bring a relaxed, compassionate, and trustworthy presence, fostering a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe and supported.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Career Counseling?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Career Counseling, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
