I am a fairly straightforward person who is not good at "therapist talk". I am more of a down to earth person wanting to form a solid and trusting relatioship with my clients. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, adults as well as children. I am a person (and a therapist!) who believes in strong relationships based on trust. I may take a bit longer to get to know you and understand you. Taking time for this is the basis for all relationships I believe. I am open to your experiences and your story, there is not much I have not heard. I have worked with grief, depression, anxiety, abuse and trauma. This is my second career, I come with LOTS of life experiences and a great passion for this work.

Hi. I am the daughter of immigrants which motivated me to study Multicultural community based psychology. I have worked in many different settings from community mental health to private practice. Currently I am the director of a consultation unit for youth and young adults in the foster care system. I really enjoy working with people on how to maximize their potential to create happier lives; sometimes this is achieved through more traditional therapy while other times this may require life coaching. I do not believe that therapy needs to be a continuous life long process, but rather a process individuals move in and out of at different stages of their lives.

Hello! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy based in California. I have been a practicing clinician for 3.5 years and I've worked in the Mental Health field for a total of 11 years. My approach is eclectic; I work primarily from a modern Psychodynamic Therapy approach and implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies. I believe that by ‘making the unconscious, conscious’ and better understanding the “why” we can then take actionable steps to create positive change. I believe we all have the essential tools within ourselves needed to build a better and safer space, a place where we can flourish into the people we always thought we could be. At times, we may find ourselves feeling lost in the midst of our daily functions, perhaps even feeling hopeless or chaotic. As an empathic and non-judgmental listener, I am up for the task of helping you uncover those tools. Let’s get you there. You are your own greatest strength.

My name is Palei and I’m a licensed marriage family therapist in the state of California. I’ve been practicing for the past 10 years and I utilize cognitive behavior therapy as my main modality. I have a passion for helping others and providing a safe space for people to process and understand the complexity that is themselves. I consider myself more of an unorthodox therapist, as I will self disclose when necessary and appropriate because I want my clients to know that I’m a real person and not a pretentious clinician who doesn’t understand where they’re coming from, as I have many life experiences from my own childhood to even now that have impacted my sense of empathy and understanding to a point where I have many lived experiences that make me very authentic and genuine when working with clients. I have a level of understanding that I think is much deeper than most and I believe what sets me apart is my positive attitude that has been heavily influenced by the utilization of the very skills I teach my clients that I’ve learned in my own personal journey with therapy. I “practice what I preach”, so I never ask of my client things that I wouldn’t ask of myself, and I absolutely utilize these skills on a daily basis to achieve the life worth living.

My approach to therapy always starts with listening to my client's needs. My methods evolve through constant customization and mutual collaboration. Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Foster Care/Adoption?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Foster Care/Adoption, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
